As you Progress though more and more Voice Lines come out. Especially in Shadowbringers, their is a lot of voice line and choices your character can say compared to like 2.0 to 3.0 combined.
edit:
So a lot of reading early but less reading later on.
Main cutscenes have voice acting, but the rest are text.
AFAIK after ARR (level 1-50) more and more become voice acted with each expansion.
This. Aside from a couple of standout voices, a lot of the ARR voice acting was a little on the poor side, and ARR in general has a lot more voiceless text boxes than subsequent expansions.
Heavensward swapped out a lot of the voice actors, so once you get into that expansion you'll find some voices are quite different, others somewhat close. There'll also be a lot more voiced scenes, particularly in more important segments. Overall the expansions are a substantial improvement in this department. Well, they're a substantial improvement in *all* departments, ARR hasn't aged very well and SE really needs to do something about it, because outside of a few good parts pre-HW is terrible in comparison.
Sidequests and a lot of the in-between stuff, however? Text box. Even some of the important stuff will be text box.
