Cannot access the Mist or any other residential area

Heya!

I accepted a quest that now asks me to enter the Mist to complete it. The problem is that I cannot finish this quest as I get greeted by an "you are unable to leave the area" error everytime I try to pass through the gate and select any ward available.
I thought that maybe this area is overpopulated or something and tried it with the 2 counterparts of the Mist (Goblet and Lavenderbeds). Same error.
A friend suggested trying to go there by taking the ferry from Limsa Lominsa. Doesn't work either and the Ferry Skipper says it's out of order.

Anyone know what's up with that? I'm new to this game and any info I tried to look up was from a longer time ago and any advice to try and fix this hasn't helped.

Do I get this right that it is uncertain when we get access to housing at all? Like, we cannot buy ourselves a house and start decorating it until they open it up?

P.s. Where can I read about housing and find out what are the prices for the houses there and yadi yada?

Yup that is correct, it will come eventually though.

Small = 3.5mil
Medium = 20mil
Large = 50mil

Thanks! Well, "eventually" does not give enough info, but, oh, well, I doubt anyone can be sure. Although I sure would like them to tell what's its gonna be. A week from now or a month from now? Or more? But I guess nobody knows.

As far as everyone knew they would have been available from the server going live. It wasn't until during maintenance that the information about them being locked came about Which is pretty bad considering people paid the transfer fee to grab a house, which is bad in it's self considering how bad the housing situation is already.
