I want FFXIV to be a JRPG... not western mmo like WoW

I want FFXIV to be like other JRPGS games that are unique like Persona 5, Dragon Quest XI, Xenogears, Onimusha, Secret of Mana, Phantasy Star Online, Star Ocean, etc. I don't want this game to be like a typical western mmo like WoW from 2004.

A JRPG means:
1) Party based combat with comrades that are close to one another in terms of lore and story... not random adventurers. Shadowbringers introduced the trust system so we can team with Scions so that's a step in the right direction.

2) Stocking up on items like potions, phoenix downs, megapotions, etc. that helps in difficult boss fights. In FFXIV the potions are useless because the healers do all the healing.

3) Summoning powerful primals like Bahamut, Ifrit, Titan, Shiva, Leviathan, etc. FFXIV is the first FF that does not has this feature. And no the summoner job does not count because they can only summon the small (egi) versions of them not the true form like previous FF games.

4) Side quests that are not 'defeat 5 of those mobs' and 'collect 10 of this stuff' but meaningful story based quests. The side quests in JRPGs tell a story of that person or that area.

5) Action based or turn based combat but not tab target combat. Tab target combat is a feature of Western mmo games not JRPGs.

Persona 5 doesn't follow the second number.

With a good party and Persona set up, you can never need to use a healing item, an SP recovery item, or a rez item.

Kohryu can inherit/learn the max single target heal, and Satanael in NG+ learns victory cry. Then there's several personas with rezzes, and Morgana naturally learns a lot of support spells.

Even if you don't have victory cry, you can use a personal with Invigorate 3, or an accessory with Invigorate 3.

There's really no need to actively stock on items, since Joker, like P3 and P4 protagonists before him, can perform every single possible role on the fly. Debuffer, Buffer, Healer, Weakness Expoilter, everything.

It's pretty damn standard practice in P3 to do that cause the A.I. is terrible and you can only manually control in P3P.

A lot of fans take MMOs and launch private fan servers. Companies tend to leave them alone so long as they don't make money off of them. I currently play a fan launch of FusionFall and SMT Imagine. the old Pirates MMO can still be found, as can ToonTown.

Don't worry too much.

Star Wars Galaxies, pre combat update, can still be found, and TBH, I've been playing that Toontown lately... Nice nostalgia trip to childhood, but GOD is it grindy.

TO add to the P5 thing, there's plenty of sidequests in previous games that are "go collect X amount of this item" or "go fight X number of this thing."

FFXI did it back in 2002, on the PS2. It wasn't a problem.

I've seen people saying it was annoying, so.

I've never seen a single complaint about it. I played for a very, very long time.

Well they have to try something to get the people back who are leaving in droves to FF 14. Although anyone getting hyped for a new WOW expansion after the last few dissapointments is setting themselves up for dissapointment. It's pretty clear the current team working on WOW don't give a toss what the players want.
