I want FFXIV to be a JRPG... not western mmo like WoW

I want FFXIV to be like other JRPGS games that are unique like Persona 5, Dragon Quest XI, Xenogears, Onimusha, Secret of Mana, Phantasy Star Online, Star Ocean, etc. I don't want this game to be like a typical western mmo like WoW from 2004.

The director that took over for 2.0 really liked WoW. It's not a clone, but it's heavily inspired by it. Just like WoW was heavily inspired by EQ. Same with FFXI being inspired by EQ.

Heh and WoW cloned the best of every game that preceeded it. Literally every example you mentioned came from somewhere else.

It did nothing new really. It just learned from every other mmo what worked and cut what didn't. But its nice to see the old bait. :D

Did it take a lot from wow ? Yes.
What did it do different ? Basically it's wow if wow was done in 2014. It didn't reinvented the genre, but redid everything better.

Starcraft really only has visual similarities to 40K... Because the story is hilariously worse than 40K...
