not really
Here's the thing:
* The majority of the world speaks Chinese with English being the most commonplace language for the rest of the world.
- barring that -
* West side of the world MAINLY speaks English
* East side of the World Mainly speaks either Chinese or Japanese
* Going central most speak English with the major trading languages being French (going south; towards the African continent) OR German (going to the East through the Balkans)
et voila; most of the world is covered without having to so much as touch Spanish, which IS one of the languages with the most speakers but basically ONLY occurs in a small part of Europe as well as Latin-America. HOWEVER; in most of those latin-american countries 99% speak English too....so why put extra money into double-covering a language when it's already covered.
It's the same for me. Why would I want the game translated in Dutch when I speak both German and French too; it simply wouldn't make sense from a economical point of view.
Argentina: Spanish (main), Italian, German, Catalan, English (in order of frequency)
Bolivia: Spanish (main), German, English (neglible)
Chile: Spanish (main), English
Colombia: Spanish (main), 65 different Amerindian languages (enough to understand and speak English), English
Costa Rica: Spanish(main), English, various indeginous languages like Maléku, Bribi
Cuba: Spanish(main), Creole
Dominical Republic: Spanish(main), English, Creole-English
Ecuador: Spanish(main), English
Should I go on with the other 13 countries? So unless you're living in Cuba....MOST of the countries who speak Spanish as their main language also speak English (or German/French) OR a variant of Creole-English (which from what I've been told is so near English they can understand/make themselves understood by others much like how Dutchies can understand Africaans)
Sure it also depends on geographical region within said country but as you can see; it would still be economically unpractical to have Spanish if most countries who speak it ALSO speak English, German and or French.
Also...now that I have indulged in your taunt....please tell me how nitpicking that 99% is going to change that no matter how popular any given language is it won't change the major languages in the world remain English, French, German and Japanese (even though Chinese, Russian and Spanish HAVE larger bodies of people who speak said language)
Would love to see the game translated in Dutch too man....not going to happen xD
So if THAT'S the case; why can't I play the game in Chinese and/or Hindi then ?
and you cant play in hindi because there's not a substantial market in india
