For real tho, about the microtransactions as whole: I do not care at all about them if
1. Developers focus on gameplay and game development first, keep their game fun and enjoyable, making a GAME, not a cash grab asset flip.
2. Not Pay to win (cosmetics only, strictly). Nothing that affects gameplay.
If both fit (so far I think it does for FFXIV, at least for me), I have no problem with anything else, because there is no issue. Someone wants and can support the development of the game i like with some extra money? Well sure why not lol, I like the game, I like the devs, I like people who support devs with extra money they could use, that is only natural. Makes project I like more profitable thus makes it more possible to see sequel/DLC/more projects alike. Win, Win, Win.
As to envy... I don't believe in god but it is obvious why envy is a sin.
P.s. Could you explain how exactly (and what) does change when in addition to various available ingame mounts an MTX one gets added? Perhaps your explanation will make me understand your position better.
2.) It's not your money they are wasting.
3.) More money in SE's pocket means a bigger budget for production of the game that you continue to enjoy.
Seriously. If you're wound up over this, you're the one doing the winding.
Lets just call bait instead of trying to dismantle any of the points, so much easier.
But I will gladly answer your question. Every single person who buy a new mount, minion, emote, cape, whatever on the mogstation, are basically telling Square Enix: "I am completly fine with paying money for this, rather than do something fun or meaningful in the game to unlock it". And that will encourage SE to add even more items. They will add more, and more, and more because people keep buying. They start making the stuff in the game more and more trivial, while making the stuff in the cashshop more and more cool-looking.
I dont know if you have played since ARR launch. But let me tell you, the amount of crap they have added on the mogstation over the years is nothing else but appalling. The game since launch even went a couple of patches without the mogstation i think. How did we support the game without a cashshop you ask? We supported the game by buying it and paying the sub like it should be.
They started mogstation and added some simple reskins and stuff, and everyone jumped on it like a ♥♥♥♥♥ on the heel. And look where we are today. Mogstation filled to the brim with exclusive looking mounts and cosmetics, convenience items, retainer boost, level skip, story skip, companion app with a SECOND subscription and free 2 play currency. And it is all thanks to people like you that dont have a problem with it.
To put it simply if people like me were in the majority, and people like you in the minority, you would be able to unlock everything on the mogstation through gameplay.
This 100%
You all should be happy it's not pay to win.
I am not upset with the store or mounts/minions/costumes/dyes, etc.
This gives me a chance to support my developer.
That money they use for what was just released, Shadowbringers.
Dude is worried about what? A bike? 2 horses, and some other ugly ass mounts? Dyes you can get in game? Seasonal stuff you can get in game?
None of that will EVER matter. EVER.
I bought ONE item from the cash shop, well 2 but one was a christmas gift for a friend.
For me I bought Edda's Scyth, it was 3$
For my friend I got him a reindeer costume for 4$
In 5+ years since beta I have only ever spent 7$ total.
Some people will just complain to complain.
I only seen my Friend's Cloud Bike,. I have only seen 2 Shop Mounts while I have been in Shadowbringers, that I am sure they have gotten from the Shop. 1 Fat Cat, and 1 Whale under Il Meg's Water..
I have not seen anything other then a lot of Grani Mounts that came with the Collector's package.
Unless you are angry about the Grani mount?
This 100%
this dude get's it.
...The correlation in this case being...
>Increasing number of shop items
And
>Best expansion released for the game thus far, with best soundtrack thus far.
Also, I don't really see too many shop item mounts. Outfit pieces? Yes, in fact, I own some. Because glamour is 100% the actual end game. But mounts? Eeehhh... I don't see those too often, and i've personally never bought any. Any i have now that's gone into the shop, are things I got back when it was free. Like the floating heart chair that i'm pretty sure they put into the shop now.
So long as SE doesn't go the route of EA and others, and sticks to cosmetics and non-lootboxes, I will be just fine with them adding stuff to it so long as they keep the same ratio and standards they have so far (if not making them higher) with the game's usual content.
It's a beast tribe mount. the Moogle one. The Cloudmallow Mount! That and the Regalia! Guess what! Neither of those were in the store.
My favorite mount is the Company Chocobo! It's not in the store. I get to customize it! Give it it's own unique name, get to let it run around with me, give it it's own set of armor with various pieces...
Second favorite is the Unicorn. The one you get from a Conjurer quest at level 30. Tied with the Black Chocobo. Because Haurchefant.
that explicitly explain why it is bad for the game. We will now never get a ingame carbuncle mount or a mount that look similar to carbuncles, because square is making money selling them. Are you really implying that you would pay real money for this stuff rather than actually play the game you already pay for, earning this stuff ingame? wow, just wow. And gettings stuff for free? are you serious? im paying for the game, and then paying monthly for it.
I don't actually want the carbuncle mount, so this is a non-issue for me. if you think the game is "worse" because one mount you want is on the cash shop, that definitely sounds like more of a "you" problem.
I wanted it for a while... but then I saw that it is WAY too awkward looking for any species but a lala. Really breaks my interest in it. Too small for anyone bigger than a potato.
I've actually been using the company chocobo more than any other mount lately. I've got something like 70 mounts, including a full complement of ponies and birds. And I never paid for a single one of them.
