New player here
So how do jobs work exactly? Say I started out as a gladiator, can I literally play anything past level 50? Unlock the ninja job, dark knight, the new gun breaker (once released), etc? And will I start back at level 1 again once playing as a new job?

jobs are a coninutation for classes, for gladiator your job progresses into paladin at level 30 after the quest, it doesnt start over at level 1.
Dark knight and gun breaker are standalone jobs and have no preclass. dark knight starts at level 30 after you complete the unlock quest for it, and an easy assumption is the same for gun breaker except it starts at level 60.
To get the quest for dark knight you must have the heavensward expansion and access to ishgard, as for the gunbreaker i dont know yet lol

when you swap from gladiator to Rogue (ninja after 30.) You'll start at level 1 again, while having an xp boost. Since it's lower then ur highest job.

You can start playing anything at level 10, which I believe either the Main Story, or the Class Quest will allow you to choose to play other Classes / Jobs.

If it is a Class, such as Gladiator, Conjurer, Pugilist, etc. then you will have to start at level 1, and they will become Jobs at level 30 after completing their story quest.

Certain Jobs due to the exapnsions are obtained at a Higher Starting levels.

Heavensward Jobs, (Dark Knight, Machinist, Astrologian) start at Level 30, but you have to enter Ishgard through Main Story.

Stormblood Jobs (Samurai, Red Mage) start at level 50, and they are easier to get only needing to complete the A Realm Reborn Story.

Shadowbringer Jobs (Gunbreaker, Dancer) have said to start at level 60, but we don't know full requirements yet.
--------

In the end you retain what ever you learn for the class / Job you have done and can switch between them for what ever you need by equipping their weapon.

So Example. If you are a level 25 Gladiator, and you decide you want to try out Conjurer for the first time, once you unlock it at the Conjurer's Guild, you will become that Level 1 Conjurer, but at any given time by equipping a Sword you can go back to being a Level 25 Gladiator.

When you want to start a new job, you go find the starter job's quest. The ARR jobs have pre-versions of them. For example, Lancer ends up being Dragoon, Archer = Bard. And then you just do their quests and can switch between jobs anytime you're not in a dungeon or raid. Not every job goes back to level 1 when you start it. Heavensward and Stormblood jobs start at much higher levels.
