FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Waiting for a dungeon sucks.
So, to go forward with the main story, I need to do a dungeon. Great. I did one and the wait wasn't too bad, but the very next quest was another dungeon. I use the duty finder again and wait. And wait. And wait. Almost half an hour go by and I was still waiting. This is NOT fun.

It happens. You might try party finder, or seeing if there's a tank or healer who will queue with you.

Play healer or tank, or get a friend who plays healer or tank to queue with you.

You don't need to just sit there and wait. Go off and do leves or side quests while waiting for the queue to pop. This isn't WoW where there's nothing to actually do while waiting for dungeons.

I'm really not interested in any other activities. I'm really just playing this for the main story.

I also don't have any other friends that play.

I might try changing to a healer. I've played them in other mmos. Kinda discouraged at the thought of having to level up a new class already though.

Yeah, that's the first step in any MMO you play unfortunately. You have to start as a tank or healer because waiting in queues suck. Get a feel for how the game plays and on your second run through, only then try DPS. This game has unlockable AI party members that you can reliably use to get through dungeons which makes the DPS run much better. But you need to go through the game once first because that entire bit is a process in itself

A lot of people are complaining about tamtara deepcroft because its so filled with bots aparently its causing problems for regular players doing the msq to get in via matchmaking. If thats the one try using the partyfinder stating that you are new doing it for the msq and some people should prolly hop in to help everyone is pretty friendly like that.

if you're on primal data center i can help you out :^)

but like the others mentioned, maybe you can try some other stuff while you wait. there are so many things to do in the game there is bound to be something else you'll enjoy.

Don't be discouraged. When leveling a class/job lower than your highest level class, you get a +100%exp armoury bonus until you reach lv70 on the lower class. From 70 to 80 it's 50%.
Finish the course at the Smith (found in every tavern in Eorzea) to get a +30% exp ring, as well.

That should help you get the healer up to spec in short time. :)

That's some good advice Miorin! Thanks.

Use the party finder and see if anyone else needs it or just wants to clear for fun.

I highly recommend using a tank for the MSQ, you take a lot less damage, queue a lot faster, and it's a lot less skill rotation. I switched to DRK for the MSQ from WHM at 3.0, and I still use DRK as my main. You also get a big boost in EXP when you level a second job, it doesn't take too long.

Making a few friends won't hurt though, certainly makes life easier if you have a friend that has a few classes leveled.

i even minimize the game and watch videos until the queue pops up. Enable system sounds wile waiting for duty finder to hear the sound of queue pop up.

What datacenter are you playing on?

If you're on Aether, I can healer or tank queue you so you can keep going in your story.

One thing I've quickly learned about FF14 is you cannot hyper focus on one thing. Otherwise you'll be stuck. I suggest taking up other things like crafting or gathering while waiting. Multitasking in FF14 will become very important in end game and you may as well learn it at earlier levels.

Best way to reduce wait time for MSQ dungeons is play healer.
Your wait time will go from 30 minutes to 0.3s

I see you've never played WoW.
