Hard to understand English translation.
Why is all the dialogue in this game written in Scottish accent? I'm Finnish and it's very hard to comprehend. Why it cannot be written just in plain English.

Sometimes they may use olde english lingo that may be a little difficult to figure out the meaning of, but so long as you have a general grasp of the story it typically isn't too difficult to get a general understanding of what they're trying to say.

Of course, then there's Urianger, but he's a special fancy lad.

If it makes you feel any better, they do start to drop out of using ye olde english sayings the further into the story you get. Sometimes it still pops up, but, at least for the main story, many of the NPCs introduced start to speak straighter and plainer than the original cast. And, well, to be honest, even the original cast starts a speak a little plainer, like Kann-E-Senna. Well, except for Urianger, but he should never change because that is what makes him that special little fancy lad we all know and love. Damn shame about his voice actor, though.

"He that holdeth fast unto his convictions shall never count betrayal amongst his crimes, though all the world may call him villain. My path is unchanged; my creed sacrosanct. This I believe with all my heart."

"Though undeniably powerful, your aetherial blade taxeth you greatly in the wielding. Not so this rapier, which shall serve you just as well 'gainst all but the most formidable foe."

And of course, from Shadowbringers trailers...

"What sayest thou, Master Matoya? We may accept this fate, or defy it, but we can not deny it."

Urianger keeps YE OLDEN WAYS of speaking. It's great.

it is very dificult to me since english is not my main language, I can understand easily any "default" english conversation and text but in Final Fantasy Tatics, XII and XIV it's very hard.
The game is not localized in my main language too so all that is left for me it's the english localization. I would love if they think about more globaly for this.

closest you'll get to scotch for a main character is raubahn, who is northern english.

there is a bit of medevil english in there aswell but mostly standard londoner.

This game is trying so hard to be "period correct" as probably seen from a 'muricans perspective just as much as to how pirate speech is a thing (it isn't nor ever was). This sadly goes for most british shows as a whole.

Maybe it's Welsh then. I'm no language expert. My point is that writing dialogue in some specific accent can make it harder for non-native English players to follow, which I imagine there are quite a few. Therefore an option for simplified English text would be nice.

i am welsh and yet to hear a welsh accent
