so, today i tried to log into my account to play and it says: "

FINAL FANTASY XIV has not yet been registered with this service account or your subscription has expired.
To play the game, you must first complete the registration process using the registration code included with your purchase.
To register, visit the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station (https://sqex.to/Msp).


i looked on my account in the mog station and my subsription doesnt end till november 12th, can anyone tell me what is wrong?

You probably have the Windows version registered to your account but you're using the Steam launcher to play it.

If this is the case, locate the "ffxivboot64" file in your Steam install directory and launch it from there. I suggest making a shortcut so that you don't always have to navigate the file path.

A typical filepath for the Steam install is as follows:

C: > Program Files (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > Common > FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE > boot > ffxivboot64

Unfortunately you won't have access to the Steam features such as the in game overlay etc.

Conversely if you own the Steam version and are trying to launch outside of Steam, just add "-issteam" to the shortcuts launcher properties.

I've never had this issue up until today, what's up with that? Did the 5.08 Update break the launcher? I've always been able to launch normally before.

They implemented a measure that forces Windows users to launch outside of Steam and Steam users to launch in Steam. This issue was very recently implemented.

I can change the launch properties to launch via the ffxivboot64.exe as a workaround I believe, but that means no more steam overlay or screenshot functionality.

I'm well aware, I just remember having to jump through 50 hoops just go get non-steam screenshots to show up in my stream library and just didn't want to deal with the hastle anymore.

You purchased the steam version of the game. Wonderful. Now go register that game on mogstation and play the game on steam.

If you can’t because you already have a windows version, well now that’s your problem.

And it’s just so sad that you cannot seem to understand that.

Registered games must be played on the licensed account they have been received on.

If your account is STANDARD play from the SE launcher.

If your account is STANDARD (STEAM) play from the steam launcher.

It’s really not rocket science. It’s very clearly explained and labeled as such.

Oh and before you want to bring up the whole “paid for a service I deserved that service” you can still have that service.

Create a new account on mog station and link the steam key.

I have downloaded this game yesterday and i have just had this problem but when you said to load it up on the ffxivboot64 does that mean i have the full game or is it just a starter cus when it's downloading it says underneath purchase ffxiv online
