FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Keep coming back, end up getting bored
as the title states, i keep coming back to this game, usually when im way behind in an expansion pack, and while a new one is going on, finding myself just grinding story quests to get caught up, and get burnt out and stop playing. I love this game, I have 700 hours on it, but I find it hard to make friends for whatever reason or to stay engaged while slogging through lines and lines and lines and lines of text to read , and to keep justifying paying a monthly sub to constantly play catch up gets tougher and tougher with each go i give it. I love Final Fantasy in general, but am I just not the right person to be playing a game like this? or am I missing the 'it factor' that makes it addicting? I'm sitting here about to pay up for another month after my last burnout session ended right around when you start swimming under water in blood storm or whatever its called, so i have a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go before i'll even be touching shadow bringer.

I mean the game doesn't change, if you're not enjoying it in Stormblood why do you think being in Shadowbringers would be any different?

Why rush the MSQ then, if you're getting burned out? There's plenty of other stuff to do.
Why don't you find some content to do while you're doing MSQ? I would reccommend starting on a relic weapon, like one of the Heavensward relic weapons etc. You need to do a lot of dungeons at the beginning. Then you can do MSQ while you wait in queue.
There's also an event starting today where you can grind currency for a lot of rewards.

I`ve got this same problem. I love the game but I just get bored with it. Strange right? Anyways I think the solution is to play with friends. Or maybe just play for small amounts of time. Like right now I`ll play for an hour or two as I`m drinking a pot of coffee.

I do enjoy it, a lot actually, but the 'high' i get wears off sooner than later and im back to square one, was just looking for advice on how to keep the game feeling fresh. for example, when the WoW craze was under way, I missed out on it cause I only had a Dell Inspiron so I could only play Rune Scape which wasnt bad for the time, I found that games grind really addicting but in comparison I feel like this game hands you too much and you don't risk any of it like you did in Rune Scape which every quest you go on youre risking gear.

Because I'm just not aware of what else there is to do, I've never heard of relic weapons, the most off the beaten path thing i've done was grind the chocobo races to get the mask, which i really enjoyed. Are there other things to do that give you 'rare' cosmetics?

Cool meeting another Aaron out here in the wild. I like that suggestion a lot, maybe my problem is im expecting this game to shoulder too much of my burdens when really I should be using it as a break from the other hum drum i get involved in.

Relic weapons are just that .. Rare cosmetics (and also good weapons for current expansions) .. Relic weapons from previous expansions are obviously just for the cosmetics, since the stats are bad now. I don't think Shadowbringer relics are out yet, I just bought Shadowbringers myself, so not sure.

Here's a guide for heavensward relic:

Don't be to scared, it has been nerfed a lot, so it's not as grindy anymore .. But it's still takes a lot of time, as it should.

Seems more like mmo's aren't your thing. I'm a bit over 1000 hours atm and I myself still have a lot of ♥♥♥♥ to do and am far from being bored. Maybe like others said, try for relic weapons and maybe other raids and such or just play other games to cure the burn out.

uhh you do know even the creators of the game say you shouldnt full time ff 14 due to the lack of content.

go play something else and let the content build back up
Hit lvl 50 and just do Hildibrand Manderville, inspector extraordinaire side quest that is worth the time xD
