Launcher not recognizing expansions are installed?
Hello!

I've run into a hiccup with the expansions for FFXIV. I have all of them through Shadowbringers. Steam client recognizes and marks the expansions as "Installed" and I believe I see the files in their respective folders in steamapps, but when I open the launcher and login, it doesn't recognize that the expansions are already installed, and I have to re-download/install the expansions all over again. The first time this happened, I just let it re-download, but since I have to do it again, I'm wondering if there's a larger issue at hand.

To note - when I turned on my computer and launched the game, the launcher started updating itself... and then I started running into this issue. Confirming I didn't ask steam to verify the integrity of the game files either, and I tried a couple of fixes that mentioned similar issues to no avail... Any help or insight on this would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Don't rely on Steam to say if the expansions are installed, it can't actually tell, because it only has the base game stored on Steam's servers. Everything is done VIA the launcher.

Since you said you did it already, i'm not entirely sure what the problem is, unless after doing it the first time, you registered your product keys online. If you did that, then that'd be why, there's a bunch of stuff it doesn't seem to download until after you register your keys, iirc.

The problem is that yeah, the Launcher will have the information and the expansions will be installed into your launcher so that you can interact with people with the content, and will always verify that the expansion is installed, BUT you have to verify that your account has the content to use.

As such Account must be verified to USE that content. Get the Product Key that was given to you and add it to your account via Mogstation. Once you do that it will allow access to what ever expansion you are using.

Did you use the key Steam gave you on the Mog Station?

As said above you need to register your (steam) keys from the expansions within the mogry station first.
You can do that by pressing the ACCOUNT button in the launcher.

Most important, never use the verify game files option from Steam on ff14 as it will reset the game back to a very basic state where no expansions where out yet.

You need to add the steam product keys on your account in the mogstation.

thanks all, but I already added the steam product keys to my mogstation account. :( It's like the launcher seems to know I should have access to the expansions, but it's not relinking to stuff I've already downloaded before, so it's redownloading everything... I never use the verify files option in steam either. ;-;

you need the steam cdkey of the xpacs and input them on your mogstation account to register them with SE. Only then ffxiv will recognize that you have the xpac. Steam is a bit misleading here.

Applying a new cd-key has zero effect on you're password, that's a you thing.
