is this a "realm reborn" or different game?

It's the same game. "A Realm Reborn" is simply the name of the re-release of FFXIV after it had to be taken down due to the terrible 1.0.

yes but it does have some changes, major ones but technically it's the same game as in both were FFXIV.

FFXIV 1.0
FFXIV 2.0 (A Realm Reborn)
FFXIV 3.0 (Heavensward)
FFXIV 4.0 (Stormblood)

A Realm Reborn is more or less an "Expansion" title. Though carried the unique story of the original game having been closed down and given a massive facelift between the original 1.0 and 2.0. It's all the same game. There's no seperate FFXIV titles.

technically it is the same game, it's FFXIV but 1.0 was different from ARR and the differences is one reason why it failed and they trashed it basically to remake FFXIV which then became A Realm Reborn.

not sure the confusion there to what I said though. While I didn't play it, the time I did is one reason back then me and a friend didn't continue at that time. Had I known that they remade it a few years back I may have tried it again but I had been playing other games and hadn't ever looked into it again.

It... actually is the same timeline, even if they ♥♥♥♥ done things up. Us legacy players get references to the events in 1.0 quite often. 1.0 ended with the Calamity and our characters getting sent into the future. If it feels disconnected it’s because of the time gap and something about the Calamity erasing people’s memories of the company of heroes.

well no, how can it be when there have been now 2 more stories obviously with Heavensward and the recent Stormblood over the summer added.

The game is final fantasy XIV a realm reborn, no more, no less. Heavensward and Stormblood are just expansions, they are not a game, just like a map dlc on COD is not a game.

All you are doing is spreading wrong information.
