Best trade skills for Samurai?
The stuff I got from the quest is all cloth, is all Samurai gear from Weaver then? And I assume blacksmith for the weapons right?

Well you don't want the crafted gear because they are generally weaker than the ones you find in dungeons and raid. Crafted gears are good for selling for profit or making a secondary class

Crafted gear is basically okay for leveling (make sure you're using the HQ gears) but the amount of effort it would take to get a crafter leveled if you aren't already there just for the sake of making gear for your SAM while leveling isn't really worth it. Better to just stick with dungeon drops and poetic gear for level 50/60. (Upgraded Ironworks gear will last until level 55, and upgrade Shire gear will last til level 65. At level 70 you'll be wanting to use Tome (Creation) gear or Raid (Savage) gear anyway, not crafted.)

Well since nobody seems to want to actually answer your question, I think a good bit of gear for SAM is weaver/leatherworker. Leatherworker usually has the DoW stuff though my knowledge of crafting past 50 is pretty limited. Other than that, yes its definitely blacksmith for weapons.

It seems some of the parts are from leather and weaver, I suppose I shall be leveling both in addition to blacksmithing.

Thank you for actually answering the question though :steamhappy:

If you have to ask, you won't be able to craft HQ relevent gear for your level.

Wait, you mean I cant craft level 50+ gear with my level 8 weaver? Aww maaaaan.....

The obvious aside.... I asked because I was not sure if it would be leatherworker or weaver. Turns out it was both.

Only until you attempt to craft something that uses mats crafted by a different class. Then it's three. Assuming the third won't require stuff from a fourth. And so on.

Crafting for gear is not a good idea. Even if you're 100% able to get all the mats by yourself, the actual result is never worth it for combat jobs. Especially after level 50 when the game
showers you with gear.

If you're leveling 2 out of 8 crafters and no gatherers for the sole reason of making combat gear, you're going to waste a lot of time and gil, and end up really disappointed.

I meant, if you had to ask what crafter makes what gear, you probably won't be able to HQ anyway.

Blacksmith, Leatherworker, Weaver, Goldsmith

It is still good to ask, he will learn more which may help him in the future crafting.

Crafting ever since Heavensward has kept getting more and more complex if you wanna HQ anything useful at all.

Not to mention, without HQ mats you probably aren't gonna HQ things while leveling, only once you're at the cap is it feasible without.

Ironically, SB cleaned up skills for combat and took away a lot, but crafters get more and more.
