FFXIV is definately not one of the bad games to do this in. You have the advantage of being your own healer, though combat is a little slow.
White mage is the best for it, because stone actually packs some punch.
Scholar was pretty good at it in Heavensward, since they could go into cleric stance and their fairy's healing was still full power. Not sure if that's the case with Stormblood changes, though.
Astrologian has their cards to speed things up. Enhanced Balance, for when you want mobs to die already.
Bard's pretty nice support job. Their songs are almost passive party buffs, since you'll be using them to buff yourself as part of your own rotation. You don't even have to think about cast times or reduced damage while using them anymore.
Sadly however most of the supportive skills only aviable veeeery late. A shame since some of them would've been handy for older content like the primals.
And as said you're going to have a much better time dodging ranged AOE unlike most caster classes.
I "think" machinist is a bit similiar mobile-wise but much more dps focused. Tho I have absolutely no idea about that class since I see it very rarely. No idea why.
Found it nice and relaxing at the time compared to other classes.
