You can try disabling the overlay by right-clicking the game in your library and going through the options. Or do what I do and run the launcher directly instead of through Steam. I had similar problems when I first got the game.
The only downside to directly running the launcher is 1. No steam overlay, so you'll have to tab out entire to check Steam messages (and might have other problems with this, depending on your system) and 2. No logged play hours on Steam. (I wouldn't count either of these as significant downsides, personally.)
also here is my laptop specs i can run most mmorpg but not games like GTA V or games that require higher specs.
