Sorry, but unless you're soloing SB A ranks, there's nothing "mega tough" about soloing something 10-20 levels below you, that was balanced to be taken down by a light party by the time they were introduced (read: a light party of ilvl 50/150 for ARR/HW hunts).
If you want a solo challenge go do Coils or Alexander Savage. A Ranks are basically a dummy that hits back sometimes.
Edit: Also a ♥♥♥♥ move to go around soloing hunts without marking them as killed depending on how active the hunting community on your server is.
lvl.50's are deady bears, i see why they culled the rewards, 60's are kinda fun to fight
may be a different story with ivlv 330-40 though, couldn't take an A under 310 gear. and if you did it was brutal. i chinned "bune" at 310 barely.
The challenge is to find which things you can and which things you can't solo, and then, among those you can't solo, find whether you can't because of mechanics, or lack of skill/gear, and how/if you can bypass either of these things.
Not everything in ARR can be soloed even now. You can solo most Coils but not all, and at least one of them will remain unsoloable, at least until we're at level 100 cap and can 2 shot them. Hell even Ultima Ex which is an ilvl 60 trial is very difficult to solo right now because of insta kill stacks.
The only thing preventing anyone from soloing any old hunt is how long they're willing to sit there and hit it until it dies. Personally I wouldn't say having free time equals challenging oneself.
Undersized runs of older content can be quite a lot of fun in general, depending on the game. I still have fond memories of duo Spine of Deathwing with my waifu. (And considering that's Spine of Deathwing, it was remarkably fun for the content that it is.) Actually, some of my fondest memories WoW were 4-man or 3-man runs of 5-man content. Particularly the ones with fun people that didn't mind shooting the ♥♥♥♥ while we pushed through.
There was also that run of Final Coil where one guy said he wanted to stand in guaranteed death zone. I told him to do it, so I could use Cover on him, just for giggles. Rest of the party talked him out of it, though.
Personally I stopped my solo Coil runs at T5 because I couldn't bother figuring out Conflagration timing since it makes me sit there doing nothing for a long time, and the damage from Death Sentence right after was enough to kill me because I was not full hp for Conflagration.
Strongly doubt T9 can be soloed. Even if you somehow manage to get past the first golems, there's the second set of golems that you have to feed meteors to. T8 is impossible to solo. The circles will kill you, no way around it. Don't know about T10/T11, but T12 and T13, and everything from T1 to T7 have been soloed, just not by me.
I did solo all of ARR ex primals though. Maybe I'll go back to Coil once I have something better than Verity gear.
Some people have been doing 3-man runs of old alliance raids. I sure wish I had some buddies to attempt such things.
Having to stop to Clemency myself during the nail phase had me going "Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap..." But it made the win sweeter, even if it wasn't strictly hard.
Same. All my friends decided to run off to different games. I actually haven't played XIV in a couple weeks because of a combination of having the flu (a month ago) and wondering what the point is if I don't have friends to share the experience with.
And my attempts to get new people to join my FC and make new friends didn't pan out.
I spend all of my in game time moving stuff around in my house because I'm never happy with anything. Just earlier today a neighbour approached me just to ask about myself because he was "curious about the lady living uphill". Probably due to how many times in these 2-ish weeks since patch he has watched me frantically run to the market board and back.
What world are you in? Likely not the same as I, but there's still the chance we're in the same data center.
I'm on Zalera. So close.
Do share more on how to do that, i've only done this on rare occasions as the centurio seals aren't much big a deal imho, save for getting a new title. I could fairly assume that the ones i beat up didn't have nobody looking for em; as i checked the usual spawn spots etc.
But yes i will do this next time. Preferably i'd rather invite to a party and get it done that way. It's easier for one thing. I just wanted to test my mettle against some uber badass monsters lol.
Open the page and search the top bar for "Hunt Tracker", then select your Data Center and World (ex: Primal > Exodus). This will display all active or recently killed A and S rank hunts reported on your server by players using the app. When you kill a hunt, clicking on the monster's hunt window on the website will allow you to report it as dead, and the spawn timer will start over.
Generally I would at least /shout in the area you are in when you find an A or S rank hunt, as well as give your <pos>, then wait 3-5 mins. If you find an area with a number of active hunters, try asking to be invited to a hunt Linkshell. Hunt Linkshells are useful for informing others, and being informed, of discovered hunts.
Note that some people may still be trying to earn Allied seals to purchase mount speed increases or grand company glamour gear, and will certainly appreciate you sharing the reward.
