DIRECTX 11 ISSUE

hi,
ok well I'm trying to see if that chat support actually works but while you wait it gives no indication of progress so it's hard to tell if your actually in some que or it's not working.

I can't seem to find that page where it also lists the support contact phone number because at this point I'm considering making that call.

when I go to support page once again it just doesn't list all the options so I can't seem to find that.

So I thought I'd also ask here in case someone had this issue and found a solution.

I have since done a total re-install of FFXIV, however I still see on the config options on the launcher that directx11 is off, I can't turn it on, the game shows on the green play button directx 9 however I have direct x 11.

I have win7, which has it as a part of it's os, plus I always had it on with the game as when I first installed it back in april it was fine.

Few weeks ago for some reason it changed and I only noticed because when I was in game I started to have some tearing issue of some kind however that cleared up. When I was looking at the time for a solution I then checked the launcher and noticed that button off.

Anyway I re-installed the entire game but still it's showing that.

any ideas?

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that perhaps your pc cannot run dx11? Not trying to be a pian in the ass, but its the only thing I can think of right now.

I understand the thought however I actually have that as part of my windows 7 as windows 7 actually installs it as part of the OS. I have also checked to make sure I have it, which I do and also it was running with this game before a few weeks ago so it has to do with the game.

I also have since resintalled my graphic drivers, first I rolled them back as the se agent suggested but still the same, then I did a clean install of the driver but still the same.

I have the number to call them directly so I guess that is all I can do comes monday (pretty sure they aren't around on saturdays). I mean unless someone comes up with a solution lol. hopeing maybe one of my two friends I asked may or someone here ran into a similar issue.


I suppose I could play it like that as directx 9 but I prefer to try to find a solution and try anything and everything before giving up.

oh and I even tried changing the values in the notepad sections : I really have no idea but I figured I can change it back if nothing happens or something not good happened. but nothing changed. I just went from 0 to 1 to see what could happen. i only changed anything I saw that was at 0 at directx11 info. like below as you can see there is directx 11 and that was 0

Doesn't matter if Windows installs DX11, your actual graphics card needs to be able to support it. What GPU do you have?

Nvidia geforce 9800 gt

yup pc is like 8years old lol. but a friend helped me install win 7 few months back to help me extend a bit more time with it since everything works fine and all. anyhoo... yah I"m not a techified person.

it's a intel core 2 quad pc

I done all checks I can ...I even googled to see if anyone ever encountered this issue and I did find a couple of posts where they had but the solutions I tried didn't help.

I also did a roll back of the graphic drivers as suggested to try by the se agent I did text chat with but that didn't work so I then re-installed the update again and that didn't help.

I really have tried everything I can think of and I don't think re-installing the game a third time will change things either but I know before it most 100% was set to directx 11 for the game and then poof one day a few weeks ago wasn't and I couldn't change it back.

when you have the green play button before you launch the game it says what directx you have on and when I set the game up first time back in april it was directx 11 and had been all this time till the.

I have no idea what changed it or what is missing though :<

well that's weird because I had it set to that at the config option of the game since I started playing as in it showed the on switch in the launcher and when Ithe green play button shows you which is on is it said directx 11 all this time since I started playing 4+ months ago.
so I don't know how that was working all these months but ok, guess at least problem solved lol.
I will continue to play this way till I can get a new pc I guess and hope that will be ok. now to also get my internet resolved and I can actually get back to game LOL. :< thanks o/

Hi Blissy. I think the game just messed up a bit by not knowing what your Card can(Should be dx9 standard and runs up to dx 10.1) and then went with the windows setting.

Depending on the game you can run it in dx11 mode, but you will not get all the effects n stuff. Also some games might grey out some option in the grafik settings if you try that.

Dx 11 is downward compatible to dx 9 so that your Card was/is working fine the way it is. Just check new games, for dx 9 or 10. If its 11only it might not work...

ahh I see, oh well. I may have games on steam that do have dx11 required but that said guess I can always play them when I can get a new pc. I have lots of games to still get too so along the way I've come on a game here and there that even had the right specs for my pc that failed to work. I saw something that said Syberia may not work for me but I hadn't a chance to play yet. The specs for it though if I remember were compatible or should I say my pc. I usually look for games that are since I know there are some I just will have to wait till I get a new pc.

anyway thanks all for the help and suggestions, much appreciated. oh if I've been playing all this time under the impression it was directx11 and didn't notice what I'm missing I suppose I won't till that changes . so far nothing else seemed out of the ordinary minus those things that are not related to graphic cards such as game disconnects or the occasional lag.
