The exchange rates for BR and RU were updated on Steam to match current exchange rates to USD and their price on the Mogstation. The prices weren't increased. The price in USD remains ~$13.

Basically, BR/RU players paying through Steam have been paying half of what everyone else has been paying for a really long time and that was finally fixed.

"that was finally fixed"?

Regional prices, did you heard about it? Its was implemented to Steam since 2011 https://steamdb.info/app/39210/

Also, for RU its not 13, its 13euro -> 900rub -> more than 15usd

i.e. WoW for EU costs 14.99usd/month - but for russian its 549rub (about 9usd)
i.e. 60USD-titles like ARK or GTA V or Ghost Recon® Wildlands costs 2000rub in RU region (33.60usd)

So, basically that 900rub price for MONTH in FF14 - about half of GTA V price.
Also, Stormblood addon costs 1800RUB - so, month sub is half of last addon price

That price increasing for RU/BR looks like if WoW gonna be 25usd/month

This, soo good to finaly see someone educated on these posts for once.

As for OP, the price only changed for Brazil in south america as far as i know, and yyou can pay more months than one per sub, you get a bit of a discount by doing that too. i think the sub plans are one month, 3 months and i dont remenber the last, 6 months, maybe?

I like that "regional pricing" is your new excuse for why you shouldn't have to pay the same as everyone else.

Nope, it is actually $15. Didn't even take me a full minute to look that up.

So your new attempt at logic is that you shouldn't have to pay the same as us for your sub because you get everything else at almost half price? What kind of stupid entitlement logic is that?

"Entry" subscription is 12.99 usd per month ( I"m just going by usd).

"Standard" subscriptions are auto-based subscription that give you more characters per server you can make then Entry but that's a moot point since you can have all classes/jobs on one character. However it's 30 day's auto pay for 14.99 or 90 days auto pay for 13.99x3 or 180 days auto pay for 12.99x6.

You can find all payment plans and info at the Mogstation website.

as interesting as pricing and conversions to other countries are as well as detailing the difference in how much consumers pay to play the game and whether or not it's fair being different when converted to the same currency, has anyone tried taking into account the varying taxes from those countries and distribution costs etc.? i am curious if that could potentially be a reason since we can't just ask the company themselves what's going on and they would really be the only ones who can say for sure anyway since they set those prices for whatever reasons they did so

Digital content is unlikely to attract any taxes. Yes, it's a loop hole. Australian has been paying on average higher price than the rest of the world on steam, and news flash steam is not taxed. Next year we will be hit with a 10% GST on top of the higher price, that is the real tax. Assuming AAA game publisher like Bethesda or 2K keeps the same price, I'm looking at USD $88 for The Elder Scrolls VI and $82 for GTA VI.

there's also the physical copies or do those not count? are the prices the same for those or are they different since the physical copies of games i see on here are the same price when i've checked
Big Boom Boom Aug 7, 2017 @ 12:05am
Physical copies are usually cheaper here in Australia after currency exchange, but who in this age still buy physical copies? Bearing in minds though it's still more expensive than U$60

console users, i tend to get everything on steam now but i have a friend who shops at gamestop instead for their games and occasionally i join them and a month ago from now i found Skyrim being sold there for $60 still and it's not even for the special edition which is only $40 here

You're forgetting that the packaging, shipping, and making the physical disc costs money. If Gamestop is buying new copies wholesale, then they probably aren't getting any discounts just because the game came out a while ago. It costs a lot less to release/create keys for digital copies, so Bethesda can afford to sell them for less on Steam.

For which system? I searched the site and the only nonPS4/XBone version of Skyrim that is more than $40 is the Switch version, and that's not even out yet.

"
We will temporarily revert the recent price adjustments in the upcoming Mog Station maintenance planned for August 16, 2017. These reduced prices will be in place for approximately 60 days. After that, prices will return to the levels they are at today. "

If you're Brazilian subscription through steam will cost you R$48,99 after 60 days.
During those 60 days you'll pay around R$25,00

It was on the xbox, i don't know how often they update the price labels so it might have been outdated but since they dedicate an entire wall to xbox and maybe only a small shelf to anything else (handheld consoles get the glass window at the counter there) i would think they keep up to date on at least those prices
