How do I buy a nice mount?

It's my mates birthday, they play this game a lot and I want to buy them a cool flying mount. I found this page (https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app) but there's only a few on here and they all kinda suck, something dragon based would be awesome, just not sure where to look.

If it’s not in the cash shop you can’t buy it. Most of the mounts in this game are earned, not bought.

The dragon based ones are definitely in that category.

About dragon mounts. Heavensward spoiler!
You get dragon mount as part of main scenario quests, at the end of 3.0 storyline. It's also one of the bosses you fought before you get to this point.

It's going to take awhile if you're new like me. But don't worry, you get one very iconic mount at the end of 2.0 storyline with maybe the best mount music ever.

I think best mounts in this game are earned by playing the main scenario or by defeating difficult bosses.

I guess this mode of play is much better than the standard pay to look good system from most MMO's. Thanks all

the mounts you get in game you can't trade so just making sure you understand that.

Perhaps you can think of something else they may like that you can purchase from the market place or if you find something in the cash shop you can gift it.

If they like minions there are plenty usually in the market place to purchase with gil. Mounts you won't find in market place like how some games have mounts in auction houses.

that 4. is not preorder. its CE bonus. you can still get it trough upgrade.

zu mount is the only affordable one
