FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Is the content time-gated like WoW in this game?
I played WoW around the Panda expansion and they had a system where you could queue for LFR raids. You can only pick up drops from boss once a week. If you kill the boss again, you wont get anything till you fight him the following week.

I am a hardcore player and I wanted to be rewarded for how many times I try. If I play 12 hours a day, I expect to have a serious advantage over someone that only plays 2 hours.

In WoW, you can't surpass casual players because all people have to do is play x number of hours per week and log off. If you play any more than your casual friend, it won't matter and he will still catch up to you. Which is unfair. Time gated content restricts the pace you play.
I want to be able to max everything in a short amount of time by putting in lots of hours. Do you know if we can do that on FF? I don't want any of that weekly crap..

Yes, this game also has a limit of how many drops you can get from raids and how many tokens you can earn per week.

The highest-end raids all have weekly caps. Moreover, the tomestones used to buy the highest-end gear are also weekly locked, you can't buy more than one piece per week.

Ok, thanks for the responses. I am going to give this game and ESO a try. I guess I can play ESO (which isn't time gated I think??? you cant ask questions on their steam forums unless u buy game first :/ )

It's almost like people are allowed to have different tastes and opinions. ESO is growing very popular, like it or not. Easily in the top 5 MMOs currently. In terms of active players.

It's maybe worth noting that some of these timegates go away as new content comes out. EG: The Shire gearset used to require Tomestones of Scripture, which you could only get X of per week. Now they require tomestones of Poetics, which aren't gated by time. Also - as someone who sometimes does only play 2 hours a week - a lot of those caps aren't things a casual player would hit. Your greater time investment would still give you some advantage.

Yes and no, Somethings are Like the raids and gear that can be bought with Tombstones are time gated to prevent people from completely gearing out in a day. However gear from the Extreme Trials are not. At this point in the game Susano and Lakshmi are the 2 released primals that you can do on Extreme difficulty (hard mode more or less). They both drop ilvl 320 items which you can farm as many of as you like, Susano Drops weapons and Lakshmi drops Accessories.

Wait a sec, you are telling me I cannot buy more than one piece of gear with Verity Tombstones?
Burnnie Jul 6, 2017 @ 5:40am
1. It's Tomestone.
2. You can buy as many items as you can afford with them.
3. Verity is weekly uncapped which means you are not restricted in any way. The tomestone that gets released with Savage in 2 weeks (and the ones after that) is weekly capped which means you can only get a maximum of 450 of them per week.
