What are your opinions on European servers?
Hello there, beautiful citizens of Steam! I've been wondering which server I should choose for an unhealthy amount of time. I would really much like to get in a friendly yet populated server but I'm not sure about server stereotypes and their disadvantages. I have two main goals in my mind, experiencing the story and end-game raiding. As a gamer, I'm somewhere between casual and hardcore and I don't want to get in a server that will eventually make my raiding experience... time consuming at best. So here I am, expecting your educated opinions and friendly tips on this subject.

I've only experienced Moogle but I'll absolutely be staying there. It's less active during 04-06 AM but other than that it's very active with people from all around the continent and even some from outside it. 99% of the people speak English but there is some french going on especially in the novice network. And as long as you remove the novice network from your chat the bot spamming will be minimal.

The players have been ridiculously friendly and kind, both random strangers and my FC members. With this being my first MMO I have screwed up in dungeons occasionally but people have been very chill about it. I havent really met any teenagers or non-adults there yet so maybe that's why.

If you play as a tank or healer you'll never have to queue for dungeons but as dps it's normal to wait 5-15 minutes for a party. But this could be the same on any other server, I have no idea.

Hope this helps.

When you use the Duty Finder to queue for something, it pairs you with people from all other the Data Center, not only your home server. So you basically end up playing with random players from all european servers. :)

I am from Moogle as well and have been since the game was released and I have to admit I never had any issues there.
As Smelly Cat said, there are a lot of french players (I am one myself) but not only, it's rather culturally diverse and a good server choice regardless of your own language.

As for the other servers, I believe Shiva is where you'll find the most German players. Odin and Ragnarok are a bit more raiding-focused, wile Cerberus and Phoenix have the most players from the UK.
As for Zodiark and Lich, I believe they are lower pop servers.

Thank you all for taking your time to share your opinions on this. It seems like Moogle is a good place to start even though I'm concerned about the possibilty of hitting a language barrier later on. It's also reassuring to know that Duty Finder works cross-servers. Last but not least, only those from Moogle & Cactuar answered my questions. So, you are representing your servers quite well.

Mer mentioned Odin and Ragnarok being raiding-focused servers, so I'll have to take a look at Odin as well. I'll create a character on both Moogle and Odin then I will compare the two and make my final decision.

I would also like to thank everyone from Cactuar even though it's a North American server. Shame, I would have liked to get to know those "selfless asshats" myself, but your answers truly proved your selflessness. I hope this post also helps someone else in need of assistance.
