Why do you want to skip all the story etc? You won't understand the classes very well if you are new to the game.

If you're new to the game then don't use any of the skipping options available as you'll miss out on a lot of required knowledge that is easier to obtain while playing normally. The main story is your main focus. You can't pick a machinist to begin with, but you can unlock it later when you reach the Heavensward section of the main story. Unlike other MMOs where the previous expansions become fodder for new content, FFXIV is a narrative story you have to follow to unlock majority of content.

While you may have purchased everything up to Stormblood now, pretend Stormblood doesn't exist and get through A Realm Reborn & Heavensward first.

It will make more sense when you start playing through it.

Although you purchased the game from Steam, any other services will still be through the Mogstation. The only time you need to put money anywhere near Steam now is at the release of a new expansion (which is probably not for another couple years) or to upgrade to any kind of limited edition if you have not already.
