Most rotational guides will be at max level, or 50...
And everything's going to be changing in a couple days anyway with stormblood dropping.

But, basic priorities...
Keep Huton up.
Keep your dots up assuming the enemy will last long enough for them to tick down.
Keep slashing debuff up if there's not a warrior already doing it as it's less of a potency loss for them than it is for the ninja.

...

There's probably much more to say, but that's a very basic guidline of things to keep in mind.
I don't recall offhand which abilities are and are not available at 45 offhand.

They're redoing the cross class system to be role based, all melee dps have the same skills available, etc.

Seems some of the dots are getting removed fro a lot of classes.

Skills such as white mage's stone spells, that are direct upgrades are getting combined into a single spell that upgrades and scales as the levels go up...

no idea how the new battle content is going to be scaled in terms of damage/healing required at this point...

new ui elements for each job to help keep track of job specific things...

I know I won't be able to remember it all offhand.

I know Thunder 1 and 3 are being consolidated into one spell, while Thunder 2 is going to be made into an AOE DOT. A similar situation is happening with the Aero line of spells; Aero will be upgraded into and replaced with Aero 2, while Aero 3 is going to stay right where it is.

Nope. All three thunders are available and are not merged. AoE thunder is a new spell called Thunder IV, Similar for White Mage.

I know this won't make a lot of sense to you but I need to say it anyway:

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Bryan...

EDIT: Wait, no, Bryan is off the hook. Just took another look at the abilities trailer and it's not 100% wrong. Thunder 1 will be replaced by Thunder 3, and while Thunder 2 won't be an AOE ability, it will be upgraded to Thunder 4 at level 64, through the traits Thunder Mastery for the former and Thunder Mastery II for the latter.

It is progression upgrade, skills are still in game and will be used whether you access content below trait lvl.

This does not change the fact that the spells are being consolidated.

verb
1.
make (something) physically stronger or more solid.
"the first phase of the project is to consolidate the outside walls"
2.
combine (a number of things) into a single more effective or coherent whole.
"all manufacturing activities have been consolidated in new premises"
synonyms: combine, unite, merge, integrate, amalgamate, fuse, synthesize, bring together, unify
"consolidate the results into an action plan"

Congratulations, we're both right. Except I'm not the one arguing semantics and splitting hairs.

As I recall, the tooltip for thunder 2 didn't state it was aoe in the description, but it listed a radius of effect at the top...

Just watched that video to confirm, that yes thunder 2 in that shows a 5y radius on it.

And thunder mastery 1 says upgrades thunder 1 to thunder 3
and thunder master 2 upgrades thunder 2 into thunder 4
