Square Enix account to steam?
I'm not sure how to explain this well... I've been playing trial on my square enix account through the non-steam version of the game.
But now I want to purchase the game on steam (The payment method at the non-steam version don't work for me) and keep using the same account. Is that possible? Can I just download the game here and login into the same account + keep my character? He's lvl20-25 on nearly all classes available to me right now, I'd rather not lose that.

UPDATE

Well guys, I guess nothing speaks better than experience itself.

I said "f it" and download the game on steam + bought it.

I was able to login to my trial account without any issues, clicked on "Account" from the ff14 launcher and added my steam CD keys there.

Worked like a charm, I am now playing the full game with the same account :) Thanks to everyone to helped, you guys are awesome

I would contact Square Enix support to figure this out. Give them a call.

I'm trying but even for Europe all I can find is an American number that's not toll free

I'm fairly certain it works in this direction (just not Steam Trial --> Windows for some reason). Still, give them a call to be sure.

The SE Store number is: 02086363000
The SE Support Number is: 08706000182

These are the two EU numbers and I believe UK based so +44 instead of 0. You want the second one.

Turns out they have email support so I sent them an email so it's late now, anyways. So hopefully tomorrow I should have an answer
Thanks everyone :) Fingers crossed!

Good luck, square enix support is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage.

I think what you're describing sounds like what I did, but for the sake of being cautious you could wait for an official answer anyway. This is from a reply of mine on another thread:

"What I did was I first bought the game from outside steam because it was cheaper, I started playing, but then I decided I wanted it on steam. I ended up buying the base game again on steam later when it was really cheap, and was able to keep playing my original account through steam. I don't buy the expansions through steam, which works out fine usually since like Shadezzz said they go on sale more frequently outside of steam."

From what I know, Non-steam license and Steam license are two separate things but both tie to your account on mogstation. For example - you have your game account on mogstation, you buy key on steam, non steam and game on ps4. With all 3 licenses active you can use all 3 platforms to access the same account and same character, only specific ui settings and hotbars need to be set again. I'm not sure how situation is with trial account, where no license is activated, but it should work just fine.

since you say the payment options doesn't work for you, I guess you want to pay your sub with steam wallet?

Basically, yeah. I haven't bought anything on the non-steam account yet. All I did so far was play trial on my account

Once you've tied your account to either steam or pc then that's that.
The only way I know of to change is to just make a new account.

If the account is tied to a steam liscence you are able to use steam wallet, and all future expansions must be the steam version.

If the account is a normal pc liscence then you are unable to use the steam wallet, and all future expansions must be pc versions.

You can log in to your account however you download the game, steam or non steam.
The download platform does not matter.
The characters will be there based on the account you log in to.

So basically, since I haven't purchased anything, I can go from non-steam to steam with no problem. It's only AFTER I actually buy the game that I can't switch?

I believe a trial account may also lock into one or the other as well.

Irony being I picked this game up after over a year of non playing...had to make a new account and everything to play it. Support merged both accounts into a single account for me in under an hour from giving them a call. Even gave me 3 months free sub.

As with most support it depends on who you get, but it depends even more on how you speak. If you act irate and angry and as if they owe you something...well how do you like people treating you that way? Be polite and appreciative and these people can give you all sorts of benefits they do not have to on top of incredible service.

As for your question, Xeoseth, on locked into somethign after buying. I believe Taran is right that the account is locked upon how you initiated the trial. The mog station I thought explains it but I could be wrong.
Gabby Jun 9, 2017 @ 2:01pm
Support isn't really that bad at all, people just refuse to use the fast support methods then get their panties in a bunch because, big shock, the e-mail support is slow.
