Need help installing game!

I gave a friend my copy of FFXIV's files; she's purchased the game on Steam and downloaded the launcher, but the launcher is making her redownload the files despite them being present.

Any ideas?

I know how annoying it is when people say they've solved it but don't present a solution. Hopefully this helps someone!

We had to open the FFXIV launcher through it's folder as opposed to Steam itself. It appears that launching it through Steam initially doesn't recognise the files.

files generally need to install themselves into the registry and all that jazz. all you've done is handed your friend a clump of useless data.

I thought as much, but people on the internet seem to be able to transfer files between PC's with ease.

You can transfer the data, must be placed in the game folder exatly as presented, if not will assume there is nothing and download everything again.
