Taunt and a few heavy hits. Yes it is.

Fast Blade > Savage Blade > Provoke > Rage of Halone. If the fight hasn't gone on too long and their gear isn't massively better than yours, you should steal aggro doing that.

Just keep in mind it's kind of a ♥♥♥♥ move to fight for aggro like that. Sometimes its better to just turn on Sword Oath and let the other tank handle it.

yea i guess so mostly the pepole i see wear junk gear slightly lower than mine however add in materia take advantage on the aggro

You'd have to stack a lot of Skill Speed to make a particularly noticable difference. Put a few hundred on there and you'll shave off a few tenths of a second.

It's ~25 of your Speed Stat to reduce the GCD by 0,01s. Meld Str on your Accessories and Crit (if already capped Determination) on the Rest, that should make it easier to get Aggro.

If you're not having aggro issues, doesn't hurt to raise your deterrence stats as long as they're not capped.
