The website WILL NOT ACCEPT THE CD KEYS GIVEN TO ME BY STEAM.
THE WEBSITE WANTS ONLY A REGISTRATION CODE, WHICH I WAS NOT GIVEN.
... thanks for trying though.
I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO ALL THAT.
PLEASE READ MY POST BEFORE YOU REPLY.
I APPRECIATE THE HELP BUT ITS NOT HELP, U'D KNOW IF U READ MY POST
For FFXIV, when you buy it through Steam the game automatically selects a regionally 'correct' version for you based on your IP and currency. If you buy the game from North America, you receive a North America CD Key and copy. If you buy it with Euros in Europe, you receive a European CD key. This also occurs with gifts. If you are in the USA and buy a gift for your friend in Germany, they will still receive a North America CD Key. The reason why this is important to understand is because Square Enix accounts have a certain setting that cannot be changed after account creation called the region. If your region on your Square Enix account disagrees with the region that you purchased the game for, the CD Key won't work.
If you discover this is not the issue, mind if I ask how long ago you purchased the game? FFXIV's CD Keys tend to not activate for several days, which is why the instruction exists that they do not send the CD Key out for a few days for the non-Steam version. When it comes to the Steam version, it may be the case that you have a CD Key, but it is not active yet. I would make sure you give it at least 72 hours before getting rolling.
If it has been at least 72 hours since your purchase and this still does not work, you may want to reach out to Square Enix support to resolve your CD Key issue.
Just to make sure we have our bases covered, I want to re-establish the 'correct' CD Key entry process. People say you need to activate your game with a CD Key. I understand you have been to 10 different places, but I want to reaffirm with you that this is the place you are going to: https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/ffxivshopacctop. You will want to look at the section here, this is where your code entry should appear: https://i.gyazo.com/50318767278b842adff32079062b3dfd.png ; See where those soft buttons are in the middle? If you do not have a service account registered, you will see a button there to register your game. If you do not see that button, scroll down a little to check what versions, if any, the game has recognized your account has registered: https://i.gyazo.com/4a02fe5e92c473679264c2e7f0c1bf91.png In this grid, it will show you what versions of the game you own with a circle indicator. If you do not own the game for Windows and A Realm Reborn, then your CD Keys are indeed not registered.
Yes, that is indeed where I'm trying to enter in my CD Key where it asks for a registration code.
I'm quite certain that the region matches, I've never played or bought or anything from another region recently or in the past. Region shouldn't be the issue...
I just bought the game yesterday, but Steam says nothing about sending out emails with this registration code that's needed after a few days, at least to my knowledge? They simply say that I'll need to enter in the CD keys, which do nothing at all and the game doesn't prompt for them and entering them in on the website where the registration code [NOT CD KEY] is supposed to go just causes it to return invalid.
A Realm Reborn does show up on my list of games but that's because I played it long ago... and I may have even purchased it twice (since I just recently bought the bundle, but neither the expansion cd key or normal a realm reborn cd key works... and the expansion is not registered to the account... only the basic game from when I used to play back in the day. again, it's asking for a registration code that I wasn't given by steam... and not a cd key. I have no reason to believe that steam will send me a registration code days after I purchased the game....?)
Not going to work. Steam keys are 100% not compatible with any SE account which has any retail PC keys registered to it for FFXIV. If you already have FFXIV PC, refund the bundle and go purchase Heavensward standalone (retail version) to add to your account.
The only other reason it would keep prompting you for a registration key is if you already have FFXIV PC registered on your SE account but no game time purchased. So in that case, pay your subscription fee.
There's also never a case in the installation where you can't skip that prompt, so I have to assume it's happening when you try to log in with your current MogStation account.
