FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Will I need to download the game again if I upgrade from the trial version?
Hey, I downloaded the free trial version here on Steam and I was wondering if, when I finally get around to buying FFXIV(also intend to get it through Steam), will I have to redownload the whole thing(because Steam is funky sometimes), or will the FFXIV free trial just automatically upgrade to the proper FFXIV? My other question is this: will I still get the 30 free days after buying the full game, or does using the free trial rule this out?

Thanks for the help in advance!

it may just download a few things to make it a proper Full game. I know it wont redownload the whole thing.
Also, you will still get the free 30days. the trial doesnt affect this

Thanks for the help in advance and sorry for bothering you.

When I bought the game it made me download the game again, but thats cuz it considers the Trial is "own" game, when you purchase the game it will add the regular game to your game list and download it. If I'm not mistaken you can continue using the trial version though.

Well, that's two bits of conflicting info. I'll post a comment when I do get around to buying the full game and let you guys know how it played out for future generations' sake. ^^

I just bought the game after downloading the trial just a couple weeks ago, and bought a gift copy for my friend who was doing the same. Neither of us had to re-download the game. We only needed to download more after buying Heavensward.

So did you have to redownload everything? I am wondering because I am in the same situation myself.

I didn't, no! The trial version of the game disappeared from my library and changed to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. I had to install a few updates through the launcher after that, but it was nothing major.

Maybe Steam fixed it but earlier in the year Trial did not disapper and was separate
But you still could just move trial files to non trial game folder and not redownload anything until you bought the next expansions (they download separately)

Steams demo doesnt work while Square's original does but website dont let you upgrade to full version via Steam option, so i gave up. Thanks for the update though.

Hi! I just bought the same game and had the same problem. Here's what you got to do:
Go to Steam > Settings > Downloads> Clear cache
Then log in back into your Steam account, uninstall FFXIV Free trial version and it will let you install the full game.
