I know this is a dead post but it's well referenced by google search for this error so I just post how I resolved it because nothing else worked for me.
This problem can appear from nowhere like you play normally and the day after you have https error, so it's not your config or computer it's external, the dns.

The problem is the dns not able to access squareEnix server.
You can solve this by clicking on your network in the bottom right corner click on it again and change the Dns to 8.8.8.8 and the other dns by 8.8.4.4 these are google dns.
You NEED to restart the computer after this change, the web browser use the new dns automatically but ff14 need the restart to use it for some reasons.
This change is safe and can be made even not for ff14. It can speed your web access because everyone use the default ISP dns but they are trash.
It solve the problem if everything else is not working (clear internet explorer cache for example)
