Alternatively you could just play the game like normal, since they have a lot of incentive for higher-level players to go back into early-game content.
For the Second Expansion, to get into the 2nd Expansion areas in Stormblood, is locked away from entrance unless you completed Heavensward Main Story Quests, and the Dragonsong War Story Quests (3.1 to 3.56). On the Upside though the New Classes Released for the Expansion, Red Mage and Samurai, are eligable to obtain after you completed the Base Game Main Story with the Quest Ultimate Weapon.
Their will be Jump Potions for people who wants to Skip the Storyline to Heavensward ($15) or Skip to Stormblood ($25), but Be Warned, the Jump Potions do not increase your Level, or your Gear to actually go Through the Areas without Dying.
Their is a Jump Potion for Leveling ($25), to be a level 60 Player with Gear strong enough for Stormblood but again be warned it is Seperate from the Storyline Jump, you will still have to go through the story or buy the Story Potion with it (a total of $50.00)
Some don't really like the story others, like me, really loved it.
But with more expansions it is also to allow new players to catch up.
While it would take some time, it wouldn't be far too much. (they thought about adding smth like a free boost or cheaper later on with more expansions)
