arcanist is a special little snowflake, since the endgame classes are based on these basic classes, you get summoner AND scholar in one.
You level one, the other levels automatically.

No other class does that.


However, scholar and summoner are not for everyone, they are weird and have books as weapons and are not straight forward like white mages or black mages.

oh I thought each one levels seperatly. I haven't taken Scholar yet but when I viewed the npc it's like the level 1 start point. so I"m guessing that since my Smn is 35 if I take the Sch now then the Sch will be 35 as well? good to know. I stand corrected on my previous comment about the two ^^.

That is correct. Job level is shared with the base class, so since Summoner and Scholar have the same base class, they are always equal level.

Ex. I leveled Arcanist to 30, unlocked Scholar, leveled that to 60. Unlocked Summoner at that point and I had a level 60 summoner.

There are two Summon actions on Arcanist, which summon Emerald Carbuncle (a caster pet) and Topaz Carbuncle (tank pet).

When you become a Scholar, these actions instead summon Eos or Serene, respectively. They're the fairies, and healer pets. Scholars can't summon carbuncles.

Summoner gains a third summon action, which summons Ifrit-egi, which is a melee pet. As they level up and complete job quests, their Emerald Carbuncle is replaced with Garuda-Egi and Topaz Carbuncle is replaced with Titan-Egi. Hence, three egis.

Though summoners have another quest they can complete that allows them to change the appearance of their egis to different carbuncles.

ahh I see, thanks for the info. I hadn't known that about the pets for Smn. ^^

Also note in 4.0 Stoneskin is going away so that is no longer (or will no longer) be on the White Mage list.

One of my favorite things are Bubbles. I say Bubbles for everyone :D. Bath bubbles, Balloon bubbles, those plastic gotta pop them bubbles, bubble tea! How can anyone NOT like bubbles!!!! <3
