Dude, I'm done.
I asked the dude to do one thing.
Follow.
Instructions.
Now if only you had noticed that I never once said anything about SE ID's from FF7 and so on, or bothered to note that the user had never once clarified or claimed to have an SE account other than the one I had directed him to 3 times. He even berated me stating that was exactly where he had gotten his account.
I never once claimed that you could use an account tied to those other games. In fact it's Asphe who pointed out the other services.
What I've done:
1. Pointed him to the walkthrough which asks if you've created a Square Enix Account.
2. Repeatedly asked if he followed the links for said SE Account, which I provided as well, multiple times.
3. Had to ask him several other times, and now had someone else, WHO CLAIMED TO FOLLOW MY LINKS, claim the same BS.
But you say it's me stating people can register elsewhere and use that. Pray tell, where did I say that?
Which, by the way, Oste'd already solved the problem for themselves at that point and was just trying to explain why it's kind of a dumb design decision and confusing, and the whole rest of the thread is you going on a tirade about how everyone who gets confused about this is an idiot and thickheaded.
He directly stated he was skipping MogStation, several times.
And no, by then he had not in fact, solved his problem. Are you even reading?
Dude still refused to see that he needed to establish a MogStation account in his very next post.
Because again, all the other SE games call the account you set up a "Square Enix ID" so it's natural to assume the one you set up before would be able to be used for FFXIV since they are being called the exact same thing.
What I said was that you do, in fact, have to create a new Square Enix account for FFXIV if you've only ever created accounts for other SE games like FF7/Tomb Raider/whatever. And the way you phrased it to OP in context made it sound like you could use these FF7/Tomb Raider/etc accounts when in fact you can't, because you were replying directly to a comment thread about these types of accounts and said that a new one didn't have to be made. Again, this was my original post:
And frankly it feels like we're talking in circles at this point. It's clear you feel like everyone's a thick headed idiot - great. The rest of the thread stands for itself.
Really?
Not really, just know that sometimes people work way too hard to be right when there was nothing to be right about in the first place. See above.
I had this exact issue. I had an issue like this. I had an old account with ffxi. Could not remember the password, so used the account recovery. It said the message given here.
So I tried to make a new account, figuring it maybe didn't have it anymore since it had been many years. Was given the message that the email already existed. Went to the mog station and got in there. Still had the issues with buying the game through the square enix website though.
Anyways, in the end, it turned out to be a browser issue. While I did have the capcha, and the "I am not a robot" check boxes for various ways of returning/making a new account, there was also a capcha that required you to select various images depicting items like cars or street numbers. Which was bugged for me. There was no way to know this part was not loading. I had to use a different browser to find out it was there at all.
So people, if you have this kind of problem, and a good many other issues can be solved this way as well, try a different browser.
Seraphena, you are being too harsh. Instead of tunneling down on only one solution, if they ignore or whatever your attempt, you can try proposing a different solution. If you can't think of another, move on with your life. Don't constantly respond.
Are you trying to log into FFXIV with your steam account information?
Right Click the Game.
Click CD Keys.
Honestly, FF 14 and Square-Enix as a whole has probably the must confusing and frustrating support/account organization I have ever seen. The game was great but I actually stopped playing it just because the information in the accounts was so confusing and their support was garbage. There are like 5 different websites for a single account. It's like a web of Hell. Bouncing around several sites just to get one thing accomplished when literally every other game I have played has all that you need on a single website linked together through pages - NO SQUARE! Every time I clicked something I felt like I was taken to a completely different website, sometimes even having to register. I needed password help and had to register to three different sites outside of main account website just to get it accomplished. I can't even tell what I registered for. They have the main Square-Enix main site, a support site, a store site, the Lodestone, Mogstation and another one. Each has a different purpose and is a completely different website.
It was like if you wanted to buy something from Amazon and had to register to a different site for each of the categories of items you could purchase. And once you are logged in, there is no obvious way to use the site and no way to search for anything.
You have have to hop around several sites, all of which are HORRIBLY designed. Nothing makes sense and OMG if you ever have to reset your password or get help from customer service. I actually stopped playing FF14 because I couldn't cope with the idea of ever having a problem with my account again and needing their help.
PLAY A DIFFERENT GAME!! TRUST ME!
Nothing Square-Enix online is worth it. EA Games has better customer than them. And that's saying something. Square-Enix games online is TRASH. If I didn't want to enjoy my free time, I would create a movement against them. Like a social media following or an army, hellbent on cautioning people... or maybe just create a guide for people who don't like so much cortisol in their system it destroys their organs.
Like a 5K run for Square-Enix Turmoil Awareness. Something to just make a difference and help people not deal with what I had to deal with. But there isn't. All hope is lost. Square-Enix is an abyss from you will never recover. It's the event horizon of a dismal reality - no return. I considered writing their support team a letter each week attributing Square-Enix's FF14 online support/account setup to the darkest dredge that online gaming has ever faced. An abomination, paralleled to nothing in the history of gaming.
I have never hated anything so deep in my life that it inspired me to take action on a spiritual level. To question the meaning of everything ultimately to accept the chaotic existentialism that comes with the consequence of realizing that nothing lasts forever. All things exist in a state of impermanence, including Square-Enix and all of it's caustic, bleak websites - a scar on the soul of all that is light and pure. That was my only solace in this entire thing. Someday it would be over and Square-Enix's online websites/"support" would not be able to taint the soul of humanity anymore.
Anyways, goodluck <3
