What's up with the date of birth in this game?

Your character's birthday and your chosen deity were supposed to have some impact in the game, but there's never been any word on how it would do that, or even if it's still in the works.

Your chosen deity does have an (incredibly minor) effect on your elemental resistances, which can have a teeny tiny effect on gathering classes.

But the birthday is still 100% fluff.

I think it's original purpose was during the old FFXIV but as of now its just for RP and ERP.

I don't even know how it could be used for ERP (Since it's simply a date but no years, so it's not like the character's age would be listed) and like all things related to ERP, I don't want to know.

From what, dare I ask? Eorzea uses a point-of-reference calendar (IE, the year itself is only ever described by how many years its been since a specific event, kind of like Transmetropolitan) We can't determine a character's age without having a specific date to compare it to. We don't even know how much time has passed since the start of ARR.

We do. Something around 80years have passed in Eorzea since release of AAR.

It's simple math. 1day in eorzea is 72min of our time. ARR has been released 3years ago. Considering that they use the same calendar as we do just count it up and you'll end around 80years.

Spoiler: FYI, FFXIV and ARR are 2 seperated World when you played the Main Story around HW and you actually met the FFXIV Heroes (Dark Heroes).
Basically FFXIV was the Original Heroes (Dark Heroes) and ARR is where we are the Heroes instead of them (Despite the Trailer, we can assume that trailer shows the Story of the Dark Heroes before they come to ARR)

Final Fantasy XIV started in the Sixth Astral Era till the Seventh Umbral Era.
Final Fantasy XIV ARR started right at Seventh Umbral Era until Seventh Astral Era
(We start in Year 5)

Umbral eras begin as a result of some form of calamity, schism, or collapse.
Astral eras are triggered when you've recovered from or exceeded the Umbral Era's trigger.

We can assume the Dark Heroes we met could be during their time of Sixth Astral Era as their final Battle when Bahamut broke out in the mist of battle between Eorzea Alliance and Garlean Empire in Year 1572.

Only that we are 2 different World as the Dark Heroes world is dying while ours is still florish but for who knows how long due to the Ascians depleting Hydaelyn.

But thats just make it confusing all the more as to why do we need 2 different world, 2 different heroes (Dark and Light) and the Trailer which shows the Dark Heroes just makes it more complicated are we playing with Chaos Theory or something.

Nobody said anything about the time between FF14 and ARR. It was just about the time since the beginning of ARR.
