Stop game from running in VR???
I can't find any way for this game to not default to always trying to run on the Rift. The VR version is obviously not done and so broken, and I really don't want to play it that way anyway. How can I disable it trying to launch Oculus so I can actually play the game?

TRON RUN/r worked okay for me before I installed my HTC Vive. Now when I start TRON RUN/r, it launches Steam VR and the display is all messed up. I'd also like to learn how to run this outside Steam VR again.

While Unreal Engine 4 titles automatically detect and use a VR device by default, at the same time they don't provide any really easy way for the end-user to change that behavior. It's left up to game developers to provide a method to turn stereo output (aka VR) off or on, via an in-game menu option.

The only thing I could find (and I have no idea if it will help), is to add this (regardless of headset brand) to the Engine.ini file via a text editor:

[Oculus.Settings] bOverrideStereo=True

I mention how to find the Engine.ini file for TRON RUN/r in the guide I did for the game (the Tweaks section):

I couldn't get LDSO's suggestion to work, same behaviour.

Any ideas out there? Same issue - After installing my new HTC Vive, the game launches in vr mode.
Hello everyone, this still happens. Did anyone find a fix for this problem? :steamsad:

OK, I may have found another solution for this. But since I don't have a VR headset, I don't know if it will work. You'll have to try it and let me know.

  • Right-click TRON RUN/r in your Steam Library game list, then click "Properties" on the context menu.
  • With the "General" tab selected on the new window, look for the "Set Launch Options" button and click on it.
  • Copy and paste the following text into the launch options text box:
    -nohmd
  • Click OK twice, to close both the launch options and game properties windows.

Now try running the game, and see if your VR headset is turned off.

Thanks LDSO. I can confirm "-nohmd" does appear to work bypassing VR mode. I will be trying this command on a couple other games too. Where'd you find this info? I have been looking for this. Thanks again.
Confirmed: LDSO's suggestion actually solved the problem.

Man, you rock! Thanks a lot for your contribution! :vote_yes:
