LAN Multiplayer

I've been reading around about the game not offering MP even for those who just want to play over a LAN.

Is there a specific file or program I have to get in order to play multiplayer with my buddies? Because solo play can only go so far.

For LAN
Just add 127.0.0.1 dsiege2.available.gamespy.com to your host file.
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Just put it at the bottom or something?

Also all LAN pc;s have to add this.

Well, I added it and it won't save, since I lack privelages of the Admin, even though I am the admin.

Right click on the host file and make it read only to see if that helps.

Nope, still won't let me save at all. It's now saying to save it elsewhere, but it isn't the same file type.

Is there a specific program I should be using, or is Notepad good enough?

just drag the file to the desktop them edit it. After that u only need to drag it back to the diretory C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Get Notepad++. It's better for editing .ini and other game text files, it parses the lines properly. Sometimes Windows Notepad screws things up for certain games.

I added 127.0.0.1 dsiege2.available.gamespy.com successfully to my hosts file. However, it doesn't seem to change anything. I still cannot click the Multiplayer button.

Ah. You have do add that text but you also have to download the No-CD 2.2 and then it will work.
