Dragon bug in Snowbrook Haven :/

Latest version is 2.3 and I deleted the old save games of the game but nothing helps, the log says that i must kill the dragon but he's gone!
I know there are better games like Diablo 3 (it's awesome) and TorchLight I and II
but I like this too, I allready played it for +60 hours (i like to explore)
It will be a pleasure to complete this game but first the dragon must land again ;)

Sucks, doesn't it? Any resolution to this yet? I'm in the same quagmire and really want to finish the game.

I want to finish it too, but i can't find any solution to that, nobody nows what to do.
But meanwhile I'm playing Titan Quest that is a very nice and better than DS2 game and beautiful !
There are 3 acts in the original TQ but it's better to begin your Act 1 in the Expansion The Immortal Throne, so you can play the new expansion IV too.
Act 1 : beautiful Grece
ACT 2 : Egypt
Act 3 : Is the most beautiful act in Asia
And finally Act 4 is in Rhodos
All acts are very beautiful and the gameplay it's very good (not that spectacular as in DiabloIII) but the skill tree's are interesting. You can level to at least 75 ( I saw a lvl 75 character :)
And there ar so far no bugs (i played TQ full and the last endboss in the Immortal Throne to get to the new act :)
And you can play multiplayer for up to 6 players :D
So, buy this one !

I tried deleting local content, re-downloading and installing but kept the saves...it's still hosed (no dragon) and now the ballista doesn't work at all. DS I won't play on this machine, DS II is toast so buying the set was a WASTE of money. I'm so disgusted I don't even want to start playing DS III.

no don't start playing dsIII it's a horrible bad game, you can only take one follower (henchman) at a time.
It's a totally waste of the money :/
And the game is most of all in dungeons (it's called dungeon siege i know but the first two was very often outdoor.
Still, The Dungeon Siege 1 was the best of the series.
Try Titan QUest instead, it's totally bug free and superb to play and even nicier graphics !!! ;)

Has anyone ever found of remedy to this? I'm 40 hours into the game and I'm pretty pissed I can't complete it because of a major bug that no one can fix...

Play Titan Quest it's 10x better and bug free.
Dungeon Siege 2 is not woth the effort anymore, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

there is a fix. the file you need is "dragfix.zip" after you have it, speak to commander, and the dragon quest will be completed instantly

there is the link, download dragfix.zip unzip and copy it to the resources(or something like that) folder. there are many res files there

UPDATE: The above file mentioned above by petrovba works. Yes the dragon will not be there but the quest will be complete. After installing you will have to speak to the commander again. You hear that sound associated with quest completion then just proceed to locked door. Waa Laa, it opens. If the file should ever not be avaliable contact me will find a way to post it on web again

I just started trying to play this again, it looks like my save was made on 2.0. After running into the issue I installed the patches and the fix, is it likely my save is just toast?

I know there's a Convert Hero option in BW, however nobody ever responded to me if it was working for them. Otherwise you can use Elys Succubus Manager v10.

I installed Elys Mod, but it's telling me the installation directory is not in the Windows Registry... Any thoughts?

I am so happy that this game still has so many fans, it is really a gem and i'd love to see a decent remaster of it :-)

Does this patch work for Steam Deck too? I dont know how to handle it with the Deck :(
