Does Anyone Remember
Okay, either I'm having a false memory or I'm remembering correctly, but just can't find any information on this. I remember playing a version of Pirates years ago that when you attacked a town, you could fire on the town and the buildings and the Fort and the graphics weren't bad for the time.

I remember when I would attack by sea that I could actually sail my ship in the Harbor firing on the town buildings and actually watching the damn things explode. If you attacked it by land you had some of your crew pushing a cannon or 2 around. You could enter each and every building in the town even the houses and by doing so it would add a certain amount of coins to your tally.

I also seem to remember that during a battle at sea ship vs ship, you could take a rowboat of some sort with explosives on it and send it to the other ship either that or there was a rowboat if your ship was sinking, but I'm not clear on this. However, I remember losing a ship and trying to take the damn rowboat to a town but it never did work. It's always told me I was lost at sea.

I remember if you wanted to if you were headed to divide the plunder you could attack the town by land and it would assemble your men just outside the town and you could point the cannons at your own men and fire to kill some of them to reduce the number of crew thus giving the rest more money when you divide. Does anybody else remember this in a version of Pirates?

You're thinking of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag or some other pirate game (or possibly a mod? There are mods for this game).

Definitely not that one as I would remember a game of that name. I never even played Pirates until after 1998. I suppose it's possible that I had tried a different pirate game at some point, but I could have sworn it was a Sid Meier version of Pirates.

I found something on Reddit. I am almost positive it was Cutthroats.

Yes, I played this version. It was Pirates! on the NES (original nintendo). https://www.retrogames.cz/play_1130-NES.php

"Port Royal 2" might also be a possibility.

It could be the Wii version of Sid Meier's Pirates, this one includes a city cannon attack minigame, it's the only version with it, here is a quick video : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ANSJa-qb_9Y&pp=ygUjU0lEIG1laWVyJ3MgcGlyYXRlcyBXaWkgY2l0eSBhdHRhY2s%3D
you are porbably thinking of the old Pirates of the carribean game that came out shortly after the first Pirates of the carribean movie. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean_(video_game)

you can find areuploaded version of that game by the same developer here on steam under the name Sea dogs.
