turning the game into a movie would destroy what the game represents in the first place
2.summaring undertale into a 2 hour movie is an impossible task cutting so much of the content the game has that it would look like a disingenuous attempt to turn the game into a movie
3. this would end up creating a problem of writing out a cannon event which yet again defeats the purpose of undertale. all the games endings are cannon is up to you on what the games state is left at
4. Deltarune is not some sequel or prequel toby said himself the game holds no relation to undertale. and while yes it can be taken with a grain of salt whats more likely deltarune is in some AU or makes no sense in the cannon undertale timeline or deltarune has no relation to undertale
deltarune just has undertale charecters written in it as a nod because toby himself loves the charecters hes written and wants to do more with them even tho undertale is finished long ago
the only way i see it having any relation to undertale is an cannon explamation behind gaster as a charecter but i highly doubt toby ever had an origin story for him to begin with (not that it isnt fun to speculate regardless)
5. i get it you want more undertale content desperate for more cannon stuff from toby himself but the story is already under enough plot holes as it is and without a doubt he wants to move onto new things (deltarune is that) and if we were to get some novel then it would be prequel bassed if anything and as for a movie already gone under the problems that has
just accept the amazing experience happned and move on and if you really care about tobies work hes without a doubt going to have meany other great ideas going through his mind. doubt he intended deltarune to be near as big of a game it is but just enjoyed writing it too much and without a doubt toby has great ideas up his sleeve to make deltarunes story just as memrable as undertale
suggest getting deltarune and experience it for yourself
the game focuses more on the narative and charecters compared to undertale as the game pushes "your actions dont matter" as a message
but i got the feeling in ways our actions will matter as time progresses
much of of undertales plot and even a few characters namely frisk outright could never work in a movie
even this video:

got an accurate idea of what an opening and animation style could look like. the simplistic artstyle used really captures the feeling of undertale while the use of lighting and extra detail gives it its own take of an art style suitable for a show / anime
would it be perfect no ofc not but it would suffice. and if toby was to state its not the official voices route etc it would allow us to see more in depth versions of the existing characters and even if not cannon voices get an view of tobys original vision of the characters (to be clear how they speak is down to the readers interpretation but toby must've had some idea of how he imagined them talking)
but as i said the meta naritive is what makes undertale undertale and even turning it into an animie would strip away what the game is and represents
but if we were to get official content id like an none cannon animie to watch and experience that has some of tobys original vision in there (like voice acting) and interactions with the charecters that otherwise wouldnt have worked in a game (cant really hang out with papyrus and undying)
but yea iv made my points clear on why its a bad idea and contredicted myself in a way by bringing up how a show / anime could work despite falts i previously mentioned existing
yea while writing this been giving myself a bit more of self insight and shifted prospective on the matter a bit quite literaly chalenging my own previous mindset with "how could this work"
do i think its a bad idea yea but do i think its doable movie no but other forms of content yes its clear that fan comics work (yes theres bad content but also really good content too)
biggest problem tho is undertale is a plot hole of its own with humans not being able to use magic while also containing monsters inside a magical barrior made by the humans... yea what a loophole toby made a vortex that something like an animie would have to take more seriously would have to fix
till they make a Undertale movie as bad as the Minecraft movie
not sure that's possible, unlike minecraft undertale actually has a story, so any movie would logically be an adaptation of that specifically the true pacifist route cuz lets be honest, none of the others have the slightest chance of being cannon let alone existing outside the game
