On the whole, I found it uplifting and positive.
Even with a true pacifist run, you will feel sadness due to the tragic nature of what has happened, but it definitely has a satisfying and cathartic ending.
Just don't do a full genocidal playthrough and you'll be fine, I think.
If you're feeling anxious, it might actually be for the best to find something to vent the sadness out. Undertale isn't a therapist... but it might work in that respect.
There's a lot about the dual nature of mankind and things like that. But in the end I think this game will do more to cheer you up than put you down, even the sad parts might help you out.
Who said you were in control.
Just take some heavy muscle relaxers and enjoy the ride.
It's surprisingly elaborate and I think you'll be more interested in exploring the game for all its content and variables over trying to play a game that just exists to make you smile.
If that's all you want, I can recommend Animal Crossing.
Undertale sounds like a great game but due to recent events I would like something nice and cheerful for now.
Not Animal Crossing though, I hate those. :/
I was hoping I could get everyone to experience the highs of everything else first.
It would have really helped them savor all the love in The End.
