Sans knowing Flowey? [Spoilers obviously]

I'm doing a true reset of the game and I'm at the part where Sans takes you to Grillbys. He talks to you about a talking flower (in yellow text), and then says about how he says things to Papyrus... Sans claims it's an echo flower but I'm assuming it's most likely Flowey. Is this somehow like, an important plot point?

During the True Pacifist ending, after Tori stops Asgore from fighting you, Alphys asks Papyrus how he knew how to call everyone, which he replies back "a talking flower" which makes Alphys freak out since she created Flowey. So Papyrus had been talking with Flowey for a while.

Sans likely thought Papyrus was talking with an echo flower though.

In one conversation, Flowey mentions that Papyrus started a 'Flowey Fan Club' in several timelines. And that he's had to reset numerous times because of Sans finding out about him. (I can see why. If Flowey couldn't even beat Asgore in a fair fight, there's no way he would've ever beaten Sans.)

So even if the brothers never met Flowey in this timeline, I'd expect them to have some lingering memories. In the same way that Toriel remembers which type of pie you prefer, and how Sans remembers meeting you before, etc.

On the other hand... if Flowey has had to reset because Sans found out about him, doesn't that imply that Sans doesn't know about Flowey in this timeline?.

On top of that, in several phone conversations, Papyrus mentions having a "talking flower friend," this has definitely been going on for a while.

Sans said the flower gave Papyrus encouragement and predictions. Also if you call Papyrus in the sewer where the yellow flowers are, he excitedly asks if any of them talk, and to say 'hi' from him.

It seems flowey still has a soft spot for papyrus, even now. I mean he's not only still interacting with him this timeline but being NICE to him (or at least papyrus interprits it that way, he does the same when you try to insult him). He would have always loved flowey and had hope for flowey no matter what flowey did, and that must have meant something.

I've heard about the fanclub, does flowey mention sans in that same conversation?

Near the end of the True Pacifist run, Sans says something to the effect of "haven't you beat this guy yet? This weirdo's got nothin on you!" Implying he knows OF Flowey, but only to the extent that he's a creepy flower with some bad intentions.

So, you mention that "talking flower" is in yellow text, but did you notice that "echo flower" was in blue (the same blue that the echo flowers are)? It's pretty clear that the "talking flower" Sans refers to is Flowey, and not an echo flower. I interpreted this as a warning to the player about Flowey from Sans to be honest. I feel like "pretty weird huh?" is said in such a way that he knows *exactly* what's going on, but doesn't want to/can't flat out explain to you what's going on. Of course immediately following this conversation, Sans pauses at the entrance to Grillby's and says something like "I was going to say something, but I forgot", which is something I say a lot when I want to say something, but for whatever reason I can't. I could say more about what I have interpreted having nearly completed the hardest route (currently having a bad time), but that's too major spoiler for this topic.

In my interpretation of Sans action, he cannot actually traverse though time. But perhaps for some reason he was able to see the different possible timelines. (Which might or might not involve Gaster) but he doesn't really know what timeline is actually happening.

So yes, he probaly knows about Flowey.

Might just be that he has some faint memories from other timelines. In the same way that Undyne kind of remembers being friends with you even though as far as she knows, she's never even met you.

Flowey's monologues reveal that he avoids Sans whenever possible. Because Sans has forced him to reset numerous times. ...which is hardly surprising. If Flowey couldn't ever even defeat Asgore, then he has no chance against Sans. Never mind what happens during the true ending.
