Sending Tem to college costs 1000 gold no matter what, but the armor you can buy afterwards varies in price greatly.
It starts off costing a whopping 10,000 gold, but goes down each time you die. It goes down in massive incriments at first, dropping to 8,000 after the first death. By the time you get it down to around 2,000, each death only takes you down maybe 100 gold. I got it down to 1,250 before I stopped grinding deaths. If you're already at the end of the game, just let the boss whop yo ass over and over. I DON'T think your armor matters for the true final bosses though, except maybe the "bad" ending boss.
Next, you need to get the Dog Refuse item. You get it for playing the piano to the tune of the music box statue. Each time you use Dog Refuse, it FILLS your inventory with them. You can sell each refuse for between 1 and 8 gold, it seems to be random for each individual item. This takes a while to save up. I recommend keeping one extra in your box.
If for whatever reason you don't have any Dog Refuse anymore (say, you discarded it, or sold it all) Theres two more strategies. One, you can buy tem flakes from her for 1 gold, and sell them for 2 gold. Another strategy is to talk to the old turtle shop keeper two screens to the left, buy up all his weapons for 30 gold each, and sell them for 50 gold each. Neither are quite as fast as the refuse trick, but they'll do in a pinch.
The armor itself is the strongest in the game, restores 1hp per round, increases your attack, and increases your carrying capacity.
Given the nature of that boss, it wouldn't help much, but it would've been nice to have against Undyne.
is the easiest way due to the price reduction for everytime you die.
You revived this thread because of that? shame on you.
This is generally the best way to do it. Dog residue is all right, but I think it takes slightly more time than the cloudy glasses (particularly given that if you get the chance to haggle the cloudy glasses, you can sell them for 65).
edit: just saw Yon's comment and that is exactly right.
