Undertale
Flowey's Anti-Piracy message.
Okay, first off, yes, I'm more than aware that the discussion of piracy is against the forum rules, to say nothing of actually promoting it. So lets keep it at "merely acknoledging piracy exists", okay boys and girls?

That said, I'd like to present this: https://www.weasyl.com/~badexample/submission/421737/badexample-undertale-comic-1493022.png

No, it's not a torrent link, don't worry. It's a comic strip, and although it's fan-made, considering all the other ♥♥♥♥ Flowey calls you out on, how cool would it be if the game notices if it was a pirated copy?

On the one hand, it's not the first game that changes if it detects it's a pirated copy (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2602876/10-hilarious-brutally-devious-ways-pc-game-developers-punish-pirates.html).

On the other hand, Undertale is probably a DRM-free game (though then again some of the games from the link above got around that by planting altered copies to pirate sites).

So, what do you guys think? Or hell, maybe someone has found in-game proof? (Not first-hand of course, you wouldn't do something like that, right? :happycthulhu:)

And AGAIN pirates would get more content than legitimate buyers. Please no. Also, if a person can't spend 9$, they probably have a very good reason for it. Maybe they're just poor. This game should have taught you about not attacking things that look like monsters.

In Papyrus's room i can see a pirate flag, and when i asked about it he said something about finding near a bay, that may be a sort of piracy detection even though it doesn't keep you from playing the game

Yes i pirated undertale, but i plan on buying it on steam when i get the chance, i definitely wanna support this guy
Thats there no matter what. Its a reference to A Specific Pirating Site I Will Not Name. But, the object and its discovery location should give you some fairly straightforward clues...

I disagree with your premise but I acknowledge your sick burn nonetheless.

As has been said, I vehemently disagree with the rest of your message, but very well played otherwise. I WILL nit-pick and say that there's a difference between "attacking" someone and calling them out, though.

Pirates were a thing before the Internet and torrent sites even existed. Undyne found a old pirate flag at the bay and gave it to Papyrus.

Well, this message makes no sense too.
Games are too expensive for you but a life is more expensive, therefore you don't value a life?
I don't get it.

I think what he's saying is that a life is far more expensive (though in this case, the better term would be "valuable") than a game, or anything money can buy, really..and that if you're too cheap to buy a 10 dollar game, then you'd ALSO be too cheap to save a life. There could have been a better choice of words, but it's basically calling you a heartless mongrel lol.

It may be out of character for Flowey to care about such things, but it's not a message that's even supposed to be seen under normal circumstances (if it existed, I mean) so it's fine.

Though I think a better anti piracy measure would have been this: Sans appears at the start, talks some cryptic wise stuff alluding to life's choices and consequences, then ends it with "You're going to have a bad time". Game begins, everything plays fine until your first real meeting with Sans...where he engages you in battle, then immediately does his insta-kill move which he uses if you attempt to spare him on genocide. Game cuts out to the "GEEEEEEEET DUNKED!" screen, then your game crashes. When you start it back up, Flowey appears, and thanks you for playing the PIRATED version of Undertale, and encourages you to go buy the game if you wish to see the rest of the story. Flowey does his creepy little laugh, game crashes again, and then never starts up anymore after that.

Well, that would be a whole lot of effort for something like that, but..still. Funny to imagine pirates' reactions.

The game is DRM free according to someone here. Wouldn't it be better to release a pirate version on the web somewhere and have this happen once you load so nobody knows it's a pirated version the first time you play it?
I'm not sure how much of a spoiler this really is, but better to be safe than sorry. I think a prefect point to put a pirate message is when sans judge you, but even if he sees you pirated the game, it keeps going like normal.

I'd actually pirate the game just so see this happen.

Somebody with the legit copy check if this is true
Amazing, necro´ed twice. Clap clap clap. Take the award.

Best Example of Alcoholic Fetal Syndrome 2016

What about it gets up to the Undyne fight and after you beat her the game crashes, that way you cannot experience the whole game.
