So my solution is to cross my arms when I play games with this control scheme. I have this ugly yellow bruise on my right forearm now, though. It would be sort of nice to have another option without an external program.
But, really, if additions like that are going to be made to the game, then a colorblind mode for those folks is probably higher priority.
I'm the same way, but my solution was to use a controller. Technically, it's a PS4 controller, so I'm still using a 3rd party program so it actually works, but still. On that note, god does it feels so much better to move around with an analog stick. 360 degrees movement vs 8 directions, and using the d-pad on certain patterns that only need me to move up, down, left or right.
EDIT: I also didn't think of this solution until already completing the true pacifist run (which means completing a normal pacifist run first) and then getting to Undyne the Undying in a Genocide run. I died a lot.
Mine's a USB NES Controller.
No, I'm serious. I have a controller and a Custom USB extension cord. It...actually fits rather nicely.
You can rebind the arrow keys to WASD or something using a registry tool, or, better....just get a new keyboard. I'm not entirely sure what happened to make your arrow keys disappear (unless the keyboard came with that, which is even more mysterious...).
60% don't have arrow keys except for in a secondary layer. Having to hold a button consistently to access the arrow keys to play would get very annoying.
He could even have a 60% or a smaller custom built that just doesn't have support for arrow keys. I mean you really should never need arrow keys. Clicking can take care of the changing where you are typing and every PC game should have rebindable KB/M controls so it should never be necessary.
