Selling your......is a PERMENANT DECISION. Spoilers.
If you sell your soul to you-know-who, the decision is permenant. Deleting your Undertale folder in appdata and uninstalling and reinstalling won't work because the game registers that you've done so in a different location. Probably via a registry file.

So if you make the choice your stuck with it. Enjoy never getting a good ending again.

SPOILERS in the title, guy.
It's time to search for the demon infecting the Windows registry and flush it out, then.

Imo undoing the action of selling your soul kinda cheapens the decision. It's not like you're never allowed to get the pure pacifist ending ever again...

It's just that there's an... extra touch to it.

Not worth laming it out and undoing the choice.

It's in the Undertale.ini file. Somewhere in the appdata.

As I noted in another thread a few days ago though for a different reason, it entirely reminds me of "One Chance", a flash game where you can't restart unless you clear your browser temp files and cookies. It's intended for the general audience, but the people who know how the system works have other ways to try again.

With that in mind, I find it great that Toby thought of that. Not just to prevent it, but it also those players to try and find where it's saved. It's basically another aspect of the game itself: RETRIEVE THY SOUL!

He clearly says that deleting your appdata folder, which includes that file, does nothing.

Makes me wonder if the game truly softlocks if you decline to sell your soul.

Does it mean you're screwed and stuck at black screen forever.

No. You can relaunch and wait 10 more minutes for the same prompt.

Nah, it's actually not permanent. The game creates a file called System_Information_### in your appdata UNDERTALE folder after the genocide run when you refuse, that one is unremovable and causes the blank screen, and will simply come back after you delete it and launch the game again. After selling Frisk's soul however, that one is deleted and a System_Information_###+1 file is made. I went back to a pacifist run and infected it with that file to get the good but extremely bad ending. However, taking it out gives you good endings now, effectively removing the fallen child.

Oh really? Guess I have been misinformed.

No dude. Deleting your appdata folder for Undertale works. It starts anew.

Kind of disappointed there's no way to fight back for your soul. Would be neat if you could do a second and third genocide run, where you keep refusing PLAYERNAME's prompt to erase everything, and when he shanks you, your sheer determination manifests itself as a pseudo-soul where you then get to fight the fallen human, only it's a fight even harder than Sans, since he'll one-hit kill you if he lands a hit, and he's have 92 HP. And you can only do 1 HP damage at a time. But if you win, you can take back your soul. (Or even destroy the fallen child's persona completely?)

I wish I had a screenshot of Flowy asking "You think you're above consequences?" to respond with.

So... has anyone tried doing two genocide runs in a row yet? If you've already sold your soul, what happens when you try to reset the second time?

You probably forgot this game has Steam Clould support, it probably redownloaded your save after you reinstalled.
