If you sell your soul though, your character will be permenanty possed by PLAYERNAME now even if you reset, doing a pacifist run effectively results in getting the worse ending in the game as it is implied possed you kills everyone.
You can change your name but it doesn't matter since you sold your soul to PLAYER NAME to bring the world back. You can't redeem yourself once you've done a genocide run, that's the price you pay for being evil, unless you delete all your saves and do a clean install.
Though I haven't done it I heard doing genocide two times in a row ruins your game as you don't have a soul to sacrifice to bring the world back. Might not be true though.
Like... I appreciate the level of depth it means, but I want to experience the best ending, and I feel denied because I wanted to see every aspect of the game. >W<
Just do the thing with the black screen and wait 10 minutes sell your soul and once that's done with go and delete your appdata folder.
Yeah, exactly..

Is that Undertale folder the "appdata cache"?
Or is that somehere else entirely? I'm pretty sure what I just deleted hasn't reset the game....
If you use Windows, go to Start and type in the search bar %appdata%, then go back a folder and go into the Local folder, UNDERTALE should be in there.
Thank you. I am relieved now. ^^
I am pretty sure they have the common sense to understand what I mean.
