i can't figure out what the mechanics for reversed yellow heart or how to dodge any of EX's attacks

Pressing the Z button will let you shoot out projectiles which you will need to either activate or destroy his attacks. Some of them, like the legs, need to be shot to move, allowing you to dodge them. The majority of them you have to shoot to destroy.
