Mystery Key?

So towards the end of the game there is a shop that sells a "Mystery Key" for 600g. I figured that the obvious door that it opens would be the Toriel door in Snowdin and although it has a unique interaction; the key does not open it. I can't think of anywhere else it could be used for. I've already reached Assgore's castle but I have yet to beat him. I really want to use it before that because the game makes it fairly clear there is no turning back. Anyone got any ideas?

I couldn't find a use either. Maybe Snowdin? The locked cabin beside Sans and Papyrus's cabin?

I found the door the key opens. It's the pink house right next to the ghost's house. Take the boat to the waterfall, go left, and up the middle tunnel.

WELL,
i actually think this is the story behind mettaton and dr.aphyos. its kinda evident in book 4, the "she'd obsessed with these awful cartoons" is a big give away lol, that and the persons dreams of becoming a big super star fits mettatons personality perfectly as well. with that in mind re-read book 6, and then think of how Dr. aphyos acted at the end of your fight with mettaton, its like "oh ♥♥♥♥ this is her only friend" tier drama

The diary entries are of Napstablook's sister who was incredibly depressed in her ghostly form, but was good friends with Alphys. She was also into performing and whatnot. She requested that Alphys should make her a body, but also not the same outward gender as herself. During all parts where you encounter an active Mettaton, he is possessed by Blook's sister. Also easily explains the "Would you smooch a ghost?" question.

Is the Key important to the actual story? Does it change anything after I read All the Diaries? or can I go back and not spend my money on it? lol Because I could really use the money for health items <.<;
