Undertale

10 dollars for the soundtrack? is this a joke?
This content requires the base game Undertale on Steam in order to play.

So I have to buy the game, which the soundtrack is from, and yet it still costs the same price? What a waste of money!

Then don't buy it? :flowey:

Well you could go for a bundle to save some money, unless you dont want to play the game, otherwise, fine an alternative.

it is when (almost?) every song is in the game anyway and it's not 10 dollars for 70+ tracks, it's 20 dollars.

Well, a friend of mine got the game itself for me, so when I got the soundtrack I was pretty much just paying the same price as I would have otherwise.
Besides, there's 101 songs on it.

At least he isn't charging $1 for each track. Considering there's like, just over a hundred of them. A ten dollar soundtrack for a ten dollar game isn't that bad considering the amount of effort put into both.
You're still missing the part where you have to own the entire game just to buy the soundtrack.

Then do the alternative then if you're not interested in the game

Actually, when checking the Undertale website, there isn't an imposed "must have this game to buy" to the Soundtrack. I guess it's only for buying it on Steam?

Maybe it will go on sale later.

Unfortunately, doing that is quite impossible unless you're very good at reverse-engineering the game application. All local game files are either the application itself or simplistic files which can only be examined through notepad/textpad.

This is why it's stupid to have ANY game soundtrack cost anything for owners of the game.

Only if the game actually has the soundtrack available as separate files in some recognizeable format, which isn't always the case.

I don't mind spending some money on a good soundtrack but setting the price to the same price as the game seems pretty high. I also really dislike these game + soundtrack discount bundles because they are, for the most part, asking people to save money by buying a soundtrack they have almost no familiarity with. I want to buy the soundtrack because I enjoyed hearing it in the game and this tactic punishes me for that.

You only have to extract the .exe. Then you'll get the soundtracks in .ogg.

From what I've heard the steam soundtrack isn't good in the sense that it doesn't loop at all, making songs way too short.

I have no idea how it is on bandcamp though, I might buy the soundtrack if it looped at least two times or something.

Don't mean to talk ♥♥♥♥ about the soundtrack, just saying it should loop a few times considering how short the tracks can be.
