Undertale

Error creating process Reason: The requested operation requires elevation.
I am unable to get Undertale to open. I keep getting a Pop-Up that says "Error creating process <C:/Users/Jim/AppData/Local/Temp/IXP000.TMP/UNDERTALE.exe>. Reason: The requested operation requires elevation."

I have located the file and verified it has all access rights to read, write, and execute. I tried opening the game with "Run as Administrator." Still gets the error. I deleted the file then I tried uninstalling the game and then reinstall. Still fails with the error message. I even uninstalled Steam then reinstalled. Still fails with error message.

Does anyone have this issue? I read through multiple threads in this forum but could not find any entries describing the same failure. I have put many hours into this game and I am very frustrated with this problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try disabling UAC.

Try this one :

Get to where Undertale exe is, right click on it. Choose "Extract Here" if you have something like a more recent version of WinRAR it should extract.

Then find Undertale.exe and load it.

Tried disabling UAC and still get the same error. When I right click on the file there is no "Extract Here" option. No extraction options at all. Thanks for the suggestions though.

It is very strange that this file is in the location it is in. Why did an executable file end up by itself in a Temp file <C:/Users/Jim/AppData/Local/Temp/IXP000.TMP/UNDERTALE.exe> when the main game Undertale.exe file is located in <C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Undertale> file? I am thoroughly confused.

Try reinstalling the game.

It could end up in a temporary file because the game is being decompressed on the fly.

The method I suggested would only work if you have a recent version of WinRAR.

The Undertale.exe file in the steamapps folder extracts some data to a temp folder, including a different undertale.exe. For whatever reason, it cannot access that location. Install 7-Zip, Winrar, or some other extraction software and extract the Undertale.exe file as an archive, then run the undertale.exe in the extracted folder.

I had installed Windows 10 the day before all this started. I was hating it and rolled back to Win 7. Voila, Undertale is working fine now. This is going to be my recommendation to anyone else having game issues after installing Windows 10. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
